The Countryman

The Countryman offers the best of "country" comfort in a location away from the crowds but close enough to enjoy what the crowds come for. David, the host, made me feel very welcome and "at home."

No complaints at all. My only gripe was having to leave after only two nights. I would have liked staying longer.

The hosts were lovely. The room was well appointed with a king size bed and it was clean. Would stay there again.

The room was spacious and clean. The location was perfect—close to major attractions yet peaceful and quiet. It included all the essentials such as comfortable bedding,Wi-Fi, TV, bathroom with toiletries and some complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate in the room. The breakfast was also great, it has well-organized dining area with attentive staff. David and Jacque are so warm and approachable. Thanks to them we had a comfortable stay. I would highly recommend staying here, it’s worth every penny. Parking is also available.

Breakfast was very good and hot maybe just have a jug of milk on the table so guests aren't having to get up and down....and maybe the dinning room could have been a bit warmer as stayed in march but overall really enjoyed the stay

The suite was very clean with a comfortable bed.Plenty of pillows and towels. The breakfast was a good varied choice and served hot. All other breakfast accoutrements were available in the nice and light breakfast dining area. The lounge area was cosy with a roaring log burner and well stocked bar. Dave and Jackie were excellent hosts giving us advice on visiting St Ives.

Excellent location for relaxing far from the hustles and bustles of city life. The host was very friendly and helpful. The property was neat and clean. Can't ask for more

Can't think of anything to complain about

Stayed with my dad and brother for a trip to see relatives. Fantastic rooms, great staff, superb breakfast/meals. Would 100% stay again. If you are gluten free this hotel absolutely caters for you. On arrival we received a very friendly greeting from the owners, who were just as friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay, I was immediately told that they had gone and bought gluten free bread for the breakfast(as I had messenger them prior to arrival to let them know I was gluten free) and also checked all the ingredients for the hot breakfast items and informed what I can and can’t have - this immediately put me at ease and was very appreciated and was a very nice touch for them to be so considerate about it. As for the room, comfy beds, lovely bathroom, clean, room cleaning/fresh towels etc available on request. We stayed for three nights and for two we ended up eating in at the hotel in the evening, including the really fantastic Sunday dinner which I would very much recommend. Very attentive staff/owners and really friendly, the type of people you’d happily sit and have a pint with. As for the location, it’s great for St Ives, I’ve seen a few reviews where people have said it’s “out of the way” it’s either a very short drive, or a taxi which for us was £12 each way for when we wanted to have a drink. Or, you can drive to the very nearby park and ride and take the train into St Ives for much cheaper. The breakfast was superb, easily one of the best we’ve had at a hotel, a really fantastic continental selection of pastries, juice, teas, coffee, waffles, jams, cereal etc and the hot breakfast was very very good - on the last day we woke up at around half 8 and got down to the breakfast area for about 10 to 9. No issue at all and breakfast was still served for us without any complaint from the staff/owners at all.
