Hotel La Margherita

Stopped here for lunch while doing Amalfi coast trip....amazing position with outstanding views Food was fabulous too!! Fresh, homemade and very authentic! Cecilia was so very helpful, a very relaxing lunch xx

This hotel is wonderfully situation on a cliff in the middle of Scala on the Amalfi Coast. An old stone built house with breath-taking views of the Italian coast. Anna-Maria welcomed us on arrival and showed us immediately to our room, please do not be expecting a grand reception area with a smiling secretary to meet you, once you arrive the bell rings and you can wait in the lounge. Beautifully decorated with paintings, vintage books and antique style furniture. The room is quite basic, an ensuite with a large bed, television, wardrobe and dresser. We also had a balcony which looked out onto Ravello across the valley. I could hear classical music from the room in the evenings when a performance was taking place in the Piazza, which was a fine pleasure. I only spent my time in the room sleeping so it did not worry me the room was not the most luxurious, it really served its purpose and I enjoyed it. Beware the mattress and the pillows are quite firm, too firm for my liking, but some people like that and you cannot please everyone so this was a minor concern,. The bathroom came with basic amenities and toiletries so if you happen to find yourself without the necessary basics on your first night, then you are safe. The breakfast was lovely each morning. Served in a light, airy room where you can observe the wonderful scenery of Ravello and Scala. The breakfast buffet consists of cereal, biscuits, juice, cake, boiled eggs, fresh bread rolls, croissants and fruits all locally sourced. I prefer the limited choice, I have stayed in some hotels where the selection is enormous and overwhelming and usually wasteful. So this was perfect. There is another hotel linked to this one close by where they offer free parking and there is a pool and bar.

A quaint hotel nestled high in the hills of Scala Italy with breathtaking views of the valley. It's a very long winding road up to the hotel but well worth the ride. The staff is friendly and helpful, Carla and Francesca are quick to offer suggestions and advice. Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the valley, a beautiful way to start the day. Our server Silvia took great care to make our experience awesome. I can't thank Francesca and Silvia enough for making our first trip to Italy memorable.
