Spacious room, good shower, conveniently located on the way to the photo bird hides if Trus Madi (c 20 mins drive)

The last c 300m uphill drive to the lodge is very steep and perhaps best not attempted with a saloon car. Our second stay, later in the trip, it was raining hard and the small 3-car parking just off the main road too muddy to park; the grounds of the lodge were also too muddy to drive in a regular non-4WD car.

The staff at Tambunan nature lodge were extremely helpful. The main reason why we chose to stay here was to visit a local bird hide to photograph rare Bornean birds and we had a mix up with the owner of the bird hide. However, a lovely guy at the reception helped us out by communicating with the owner. The views from the lodge are exceptional! The lodge and the rooms are quite rustic but this is a remote location so please manage your expectations. It is also not walkable to Tambunan town but the staff called a private taxi for us to visit the town for dinner.
