"An overall great stay, but …."

10.0

We had a great stay at The Shores; loved the grill and pool area and the neighborhood. Our unit was a studio, which we expected and were fine with. What we did not expect was the not so subtle reminders that guests renting studios were not the target audience of the management company. The welcome letter is not really welcoming… more a list of how to avoid pest infestations and in our case, to prepare for having no WiFi for two weeks. Thankfully, that information was outdated and we did have Wi-Fi. The thing that really made it clear that guests of studios were not valued is when the management agency replied to my question about a laundry room. I was told: since you are renting a studio, you do not have access to the laundry room. You can drive “into town” to do your laundry. Tip: rather than base a laundry code on the size of the rental, consider the length of the stay instead. We were staying for 12 days! We had no choice but to drive 50 minutes ( the nearest was actually 30 minutes, but we were not given any info) bc we were also instructed that while extra sheets and towels were provided; only one set of each could be left at checkout for housekeeping. So, a big chunk of our island time was spent doing sheets and towels and our laundry, unnecessarily. Other notes: the bed needs to be replaced. It’s a spring style bed and we know bc we felt every spring. We had to buy a spatula and set of tongs ( a dinner fork to grill with?) and a salad bowl bc these were not supplied.
