Balcon al Cotopaxi Hosteria

We spent 4 nights here. We spontaneously added an extra night, which was the best decision. The view is breathtaking and probably unrivalled in the region. It's a very cosy atmosphere and you immediately feel at home. Carlos is very attentive and tries to fulfil all your wishes. In the evening they light up the fire place, very cozy. Definitely a highlight for us on our 2.5 month trip.

Amazing, relaxing location with beautiful views of the volcano. The manager is a lovely person who’s always available to help you. It’s easy to book tours through here and the guide that takes you on them is awesome. Definitely would recommend.

It’s hard to think of anything negative. The only thing I could think of is that the music in the main restaurant area could be a little more varying because if you stay there for multiple days, you start to know the songs that are being played.

It is located in a bit far from the downtown, but it totally makes sense for its magnificent view with four mountains. Also, it was marvelous to stay in the middle of the nature. Carlos and the staffs are kind, nice and hardworking to make guests happy and content.

It's a pity that there are not many menus for vegans or vegetarians, however, you can create and request your own menu. Then, Carlos and the staffs will help to make it come true!🤣

This place a real gem! The view of Cotopaxi is just stunning (if your are lucky and the mountain shows itself). Also the staff is very friendly and helpful. Those who do not speak Spanish will appreciate English speaking staff which is not so common in Ecuador. We also enjoyed the food in the evening as well as the breakfast. Cozy atmosphere, you will feel like you do not need to go anywhere else. This was the best place we stayed at in Ecuador.

I would recommend having at least a SUV type of car with higher clearance to get to the hotel.

Our host Carlós was just great - he made everything possible for us! The view out of our room was splendid, the bed really comfortable and the breakfast and the diner delicious! We enjoyed the stay and the silence up there really much!

As the Hotel is on 3400m altitude, it gets really cold - so think of warm clothes!

A beautiful hosteria overlooking Kotopaxi and nearby mountains. It is located in a remote area but worth to stay. The owner is very friendly, kind and knowledgeable about the area. It was very fun to hike in his property with his son. We only stayed for 1 night and wished to stay more.

Location is exceptional and the staff,namely Carlos,was going out of his way to help with our stranded car and every other request we had.

The attention from the host was fabulous, excellent service and good advises. The location is remote, but you are rewarded with fantastic views.
