Love Hotels Tomahawk by OYO at Lake Mohawksin WI

We booked a room here over the 4th of July weekend. I received confirmation for my stay plus 3 other texts and a phone call from an OYO representative reconfirming my stay. I also spoke directly with the manager of the hotel confirming our stay and a later arrival time. Upon arrival I was told the hotel was over booked and there were no rooms available. The nearest available room anywhere on this holiday weekend was 2 hrs away. My main concern and warning is about the OYO Hotel group itself and their booking practices. They just did not over book this small hotel by 1 or 2 parties but by at least a dozen. While the manager was overwhelmed and very apologetic he did offer an option for us to stay in a family sized room with 4 beds currently being used as a staging room for maintenance as they are remodeling other rooms. We agreed to make the best of a horrible situation as there were no other options for rooms anywhere in the area. The manager also offer to comp us for one of the nights due to the inconvenience and condition of the room. However after accepting and paying for the room, we went to dinner and upon returning to the hotel we were told by other patrons in the rooms next to ours, that he showed our room to 4 other parties that had confirmed bookings. All of them declined. When you see the pictures attached of what they were offered you'll understand. After we returned for the night I was in the parking lot talking with the other patrons and yet another couple tried to check in with their confirmed booking. They were given the same bad news as dozens before and left in tears as their only and closest option was 2 hrs away. Since we had 4 beds in our room and only needing 2, the manager asked us if we'd be willing to have roommates for the night. We respectfully declined. When we checked out and went to settle the bill the offer of compensation was changed to a free night on a future stay. Unbelievable! Now I'm in a battle with the OYO group as they are unwilling to refund me anything. So BEWARE as their whole operation seems to be a scam.
