The ENGLiSH Hotel, Las Vegas, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Very poorly managed hotel; avoid this place. The only other guest I ever saw at the hotel was at the front desk trying to cancel his reservation. I had also tried canceling mine, but they wouldn't let me out.

Beautiful Hotel and restaurant. We were here for Twitch and found it located just in the middle of all the action. The Cost is higher but we get perks when checking in. A bag of goodies with water and snacks. Breakfast "Chips" like gambling chips that are good for breakfast. We also received other Chips for food and drinks at the Todd Club. The People are super friendly in the hotel and the place is CLEAN. Parking is great because most everyone took a uber or Lift.

I have mostly stayed on the Strip when in Las Vegas and was looking for something a little different this time. Good - I like the Arts District area for a change, and there are many restaurants, coffee shops and breweries in an easy walking distance from the hotel. Parking we found very easily right on the street, and safe. There is a small bar fridge in the room. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet. I did like being able to walk out of a hotel room and onto the street within minutes, super convenient. I had read that the shower room walls were glass, but they have covered the walls 80% with a hotel logo wrap so you cannot see from the bedroom into the capsule shower room which I imagine was from customer feedback. I think the wrap would be an improvement. Bad - The room style I imagine was meant to be eclectic, but actually staying in it, it is an over cluttered unfunctional space. It is trying too hard to push a 'hotel personality'. A fake red rose in a vase, a large bar cart with cocktail utensils, a hanging rail for clothing, but no cupboards, a thin desk with a chair that is so big it cannot be pushed under it, so the chair just sits out into the room. This style is through the hotel into the lobby, which also is cluttered. The reception desk had piles of amazon packages behind the main desk and the office doors were also open where you could see the space was overflowing and untidy. Your first impression is that is messy and overcrowded. The AC is situated right at the head of the bed so your eyes are nice and dried out by the morning. The pool was very small. And very shallow. I think the deep end was 3ft and the shallow 4 inches, so couldn't even go for a swim. There is no gym on property. We tried it and it was not a good fit for us. The style of hotel, service and amenities available to guests were very limited and not of a high standard.

The hotel is a bit weird. The lobby is broken up and is a combination reception, snacks for sale and coffee bar. The decor is a bit cluttered with almost dead plants stuck in the corners of the elevator areas and rooms. The rooms were fine. No views. The location is off the strip and very desolate with no good restaurants or shops within walking distance. You need to Uber everywhere. The hotel does have its own restaurant and the food was very good so I ate there the two nights I stayed at the hotel rather than take another Uber to the strip.

I really wanted to like this hotel! And there are some positives - but it’s not the place for me, I won’t be coming back. First the pluses - Eye pleasing design in the center of the Arts District. Excellent restaurant (I only had a light dinner there but other reviews rave about the breakfast too). Cute lobby area. Bright clean hallways. Room looks great when open door. Bed comfortable. Towels soft. Water flow and warmth fine. Mostly friendly staff The minuses - Room is triumph of form over function. Desk is shallow, not a place to work. Air conditioner blows right on your face when in bed - if you turn it off room quickly gets too hot but when it is on it is freezing because it is blowing full force right on you (I ended up constructing a pillow fort around my head to block the airflow - the pillows are large and long and perfect for this) No electrical outlets by one side of bed (without unplugging lamps) Tiny bedside tables, next to useless if you want more than one or two items next to the bed Bathroom tiny, no place for your toiletries kit Toilets minimal flush No body wash in the container in the shower Also disappointed there is no onsite fitness center (that’s on me, I should have checked, I just assumed at a $350 a night Tribute Portfolio hotel there would be one). The hotel actually has an agreement with the Plaza Hotel for free use of their gym. Plaza hotel is perhaps 8/10 a mile down the road, a perfectly fine walk at least during the day if not too hot (and the hotel apparently has a policy where they will reimburse you if you take an Uber to the gym). Problem is, gym at the Plaza hotel is horrible!! Dirty. Hot. Old Equipment. Think old style boxing gym. Come on, partner with the Golden Nugget (I assume they have a nicer gym). Or a non-casino mid level gym. I liked staying away from the Strip … but will try another property next time.

Fantastic! Beautiful hotel 15 min walk to Fremont St. All of the staff were wonderful! Went to Pepper Club every morning for breakfast. Food was soooo good! Hot coffee and infused water in lobby 24/7. Will be back! Only negative was the shower floor was really slippery so be careful.
