Björkbackens Vandrarhem i Vimmerby

Nice and cool temperature in the room – ideal for sleeping – despite outside temperatures of 30 C. The locks use physical keys which can be a bit bulky. Hopefully they will be replaced by mobile keys in the future. The locks can also be heard opening and closing due to their sturdy design.

It was great to have the whole complex together - the hotel, the hostel, the pool all in one place. The staff was friendly.

I booked the hostel because everything else was already booked. The room did not have bed linen nor towels, and the information about it was not available beforhands. There was an option to buy them additionally, same for breakfast, which increased the price for some 35-40%. Breakfast was OK but some of the products were not fresh (spoilt vegetables). The bunk beds were quite hard and made a lot of noise when one moved. Also no AC anywhere in the hostel nor the restaurant (it was a hot day). Overall, possible to survive but definitely next time will try another place.

The room was not sound proof. You could hear the rooms next to you and the hallway.

Frukansvärda sängar och dålig luft i rummet så åkte hem 1 dag tidigare än planerat.

Fint og praktisk ophold på hyggeligt sted. Alt fungerede og personalet sødt. Kommer gerne igen.

Bodde på vandrarhemmet. Det första vi möttes av var ett ostädat rum med gamla lakan och damm under sängarna. Lövtunna väggar, dvs EXTREMT lyhört. Vi hade dock tur med skötsamma grannar. Rummet luktade illa och det gick inte att öppna fönstret. Noll ventilation. På morgonen gick vi till hotelldelen för att äta frukost. Även detta en besvikelse. Äggröran innehöll minimalt med ägg och var utblandad med något, mjöl? Generellt sett deppig frukost och och stökig matsal (då reste vi ändå själva med 3 barn under 5 år). Försök hitta ett annat ställe att övernatta på är mitt råd!

We stayed at the hostel. It worked well for us for two days visit in Astrid Lindgrens world. Not fancy in any way, but everything worked. Shared areas a bit crowded, but then again we didn’t hang out inside. The outdoor areas are great. For small fees you can enter pool or play mini golf. We enjoyed both offers. We also had breakfast buffet, which was really great. The restaurant service at evening was quite slow and more smiley service would have been welcome. The a la carte dish with pepper sauce was over spiced with pepper. But I am sure it was just bad luck. Only disadvantage is bad public transport links to Astrid Lindgrens world. The buses are not regular and ended up walking 45 minutes each way to the park.
