"Amazing Gem"

10.0

The Scandinavian design, beauty of the surrounding area, and calm natural beauty of the retreat center are the first things I noticed. But it is truly the way they have thought of everything to make you comfortable, the thoughtful healthiness of the meals, the kindness of the staff and the restfulness and rejuvenation embodied here that makes it special. My husband and I went for his first time, my second time there. We will definitely be back!

"So peaceful & beautiful"

10.0

I spent 2 nights in a treehaus pod which was spotless, beautiful & comfortable. I attended yoga, ate delicious meals, and drank tea while looking out at the water & trees. Everyone was incredibly welcoming. My experience exceeded all of my expectations. I hope to return many times.

"Relaxation at it's finest"

10.0

Wild Rice Retreat offered a relaxing environment to take away from the retreat what you want out of it. The daily schedule of optional classes are spread out enough so you can relax in between and no one pushes you to attend things you don't want to. The food is fresh and nourishing, elevating the stay with a resort-like feel.

"Arguably close to a life changing experience!!!"

10.0

I stayed at Wild Rice Retreat for a couple nights with my college age daughter who was on Spring Break. We stayed in a “rice pod” so it had two twin beds, a nice kitchenette (complete with tea kettle & French press), heated floors, Bluetooth speaker, a table/two chairs and chair/ottoman, books. Lots of modern finishes and no TV (WiFi is available) Plenty of power outlets, good lighting, and other amenities ( lotion, plates, silverware, umbrella, blow dryer, even a flashlight!) The included classes (yoga, forest walk, coloring, aromatherapy all varies by day) and other events we attended were stellar. The yoga/meditation instructors were knowledgeable and talented and the Ojibwe elder who we spent an hour with learning about her culture and personal history along with a fun craft/activity about maple syrup harvesting in the area left me and my daughter feeling so grateful to have the opportunity to learn from her and even participate in her tribe’s customs all while learning lots of history about the Bayfield area. The food was also nourishing and tasty with lots of flavors! I would describe the food as sophisticated, artful “clean eating”. Fresh crisp salads, homemade sauces/dressings, lots of fresh vegetables, rice and roasted veggies, potatoes, artisan breads, vegan dishes (but well balanced with some fish and chicken!) coffee, tea and water and all included for overnight guests. Three meal times include: Early breakfast, brunch and dinner, all self- served. My daughter has Crohns Disease and she really appreciated the freshness and variety of the food. She is typically a light eater but I watched her eat a full plate and go up for seconds! We talked to the chef/cooks multiple times and they were all super friendly and appreciative of our positive comments and feedback. It was a bit chilly and snowy while we were there in late March (in Northern WI this is common but the resort offered a discount and I’ve always wanted to visit), but the Swedish sauna and rain shower made up for the cold! I visited the building twice during our stay and loved the warmth/heat of sauna that released so much tension I had been carrying. The building was super clean with lots of towels, hooks, water, restroom etc. I loved walking back to my “rice pod” in my plush robe still warm from sitting in the sauna and then looking up and seeing all the beautiful bright stars in the sky…well more than I can see in my day to day back in big(ger) city limits. Ok, I feel like I could go on and on with my review but if you are looking for a relaxing, quiet, beautiful-in-nature, peaceful place where you will feel thoughtfully taken care of while experiencing healthy food, mindful movements, hiking, nature, simple and slowing down life for a little while then check this place out! You don’t have to be a “yogi” by any means the classes were simple, with lots of options all levels can make it there own. I appreciated the stress on not trying to be like everyone else we are all different and experience things in our own ways and that is OK. Go to Wild Rice Retreat & you will not regret it, in fact, you may even come back just a little bit different (and better) than you were when you first arrived!

"A place of peace and relaxation"

If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing environment with amazing food, and immersive experiences, this is the place. Taking a long walk through the woods along Lake Superior was the perfect moment to de-stress from a hectic world. Plus the rain shower room was pure heaven!

"A time and place nested in the sacred energies of Lake Superior and her woods with an invitation to release and fulfill"

10.0

This was a perfect 4day retreat…breathing the woods and Lake Superior air, walking between buildings to eat terrific food, sweat and release, relax in the treehouse views in the trees and most of all have a deep experience with the varied mind, body spirit practices I most appreciate!!! It was too short and I will return 🙏❣️

"Relax in beautiful winter retreat"

10.0

The retreat was so beautiful, relaxing and grounding. I have celiac and they were able to make me delightful gluten free meals for three days with zero issues. The views of Lake Superior, the cozy pods, gorgeous yoga studio, and hiking trails were great. The sound of the wind in the pines and ice along the shore were all I heard - so quiet and such a great break from super busy everyday life. I actually had time to read books, take naps and enjoy nature, and be sure to get up for sunrise walk in the snow!

"Very different but very fun."

10.0

We stayed at the Wild Rice Retreat as we were in town for a wedding. Everyone who works there seem to love their job and go out of the way to make you feel welcome. We stayed in the nest buildings room L1. The buildings provided a lot of living space with very nice bathrooms and comfortable beds. The rooms did not have a TV which was a nice escape from the every day world. The trails near the resort are very pretty with delightful views of Lake Superior. We had two dinners (food included) one was excellent (Indian Curry ) the other was so-so. We attended one meditation event which was very relaxing after a long drive. Overall I would recommend Wild Rice and would stay here again.

"Truly, a perfect place to retreat."

10.0

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. After a difficult summer caregiving for my parents who both passed away, I really wanted to retreat from everything for little while (and it was also a convenient anniversary trip for my husband and me). They knock it out of the park here for nourishing fine dining and the property was EXACTLY what I needed. Beautiful and calming sitting areas around the property accented by happy art sculptures and their yoga studio is a sunny, peaceful oasis surrounded by trees - huge windows give you the most wonderful views while you breathe and unwind. We stayed in a “nest” unit which was clean, modern, sunny, relaxing and perfectly appointed with everything we could want. The bed makes you feel like you’re sinking in to clouds and the table is the perfect size to work on a 1000 piece puzzle with a bottle of wine! It truly is a calming retreat with a view of Lake Superior (no lake access but still lovely). Would love to return some time.
