The Boshaw Trout

A recently modernised and upgraded building. Specifically our 'superior' double room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with triple-aspect views over the spectacular countryside. The en-suite shower & bathroom was spotless, well equipped and in good working condition. The young adult staff were outstanding in their welcome, professionalism and anticipation of our needs. It was a delight to deal with them. Excellent ales from their own micro-brewery!

Road noise. Summer nights mean windows open for fresh air but also noise from cars passing on the busy Penistone Road alongside the pub building. Earplugs helped! Over-priced for both room and breakfast albeit in recently upgraded pub accommodation in good condition.

The location was good and the staff was welcoming. room tiny but cleaned. not sure it was a king bed?. Shower room compact but adequate. No table for the tea tray which was left on the bedside table. Good breakfast.

The mattress was so uncomfortable and need replacing. There was a fan outside out window which was turned off at 10h30 but another engine noise through the night keep me awake. Broken slate on the blind which left the light in early. door slammed until passed midnight (from the kitchen). Duvet too small for the bed and bedding too small for the duvet.

Clean modern rooms, good showers and ameneties, good restaurant and nice breakfast.

My particular room was a bit small

A very good greeting on arrival. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, except the pillows. The view towards the reservoir was amazing. Our bedroom and bed faced that way. There was lots of hot water, the bathroom was a good size and the shower worked well. There was room for a floor cupboard to put wash bags etc, as the shelves were too narrow, and it could do with one. Breakfast was good.

I did book a small room, but it was so small 2 of us couldn't move in it at once. Our 2 cabin sized bags were in the way as there was nowhere to put them. The main light switch was hidden behind the bed. The hair dryer lead did not reach the mirror as it was on the other side of the room. Only one double plug is available. The pillows were flat, lumpy and we only had one each. The wardrobe only had 4 hangers. It could all have been thought out better.

Breakfast was very good. Didn't have an evening meal, but the menu looked good and there were a lot of people eating there. Staff were very friendly and helpful. easy to get into Holmfirth, taxi was around £6.

We were in a quirky room with a fold down bed which was comfy, however there was not enough space around it get in from both sides. Also the bathroom was very small and difficult to get in and out of.

Everything was great. staff were lovely and friendly, beautiful location would recommend 😊
