Crash Pad Adventure Hostel

I got an upgrade free of charge because of slow season, so I was happy about that! I did self-check in because I arrived a little after reception closed. But I was sent the instruction videos in advance and everything went perfect. The place is lovely. The roof terrace is amazing! It has a shared fridge, cupboards with everything you need and a sink. I had breakfast and soaked up the morning sun every day of my stay. Staff was super friendly. I liked that the place is on the main street and you can see regular life happening all day long.

The downside of being on the main street was that some loud traffic started at 5:30AM, which was early to be woken up on vacation :D

Crash Pad Adventure Hostel in Hopkins might just be Belize’s best hostel. It’s not your average backpacker stop; it’s incredibly clean, thoughtfully maintained, and has a very cool design. Every detail feels intentional, from the smart layout of the rooms, to the artistic touches throughout the property. It’s clear that this place was built for travelers who appreciate comfort but who don't want to pay for unnecessary extras, like a television in your room. And then there’s the staff — Juan, Cornelio and Eva were a little shy at first, but that’s exactly what makes them so genuine. They’re hardworking, kind, and always ready to help when you need it. I was floored when I learned that they actually built everything; walls, showers, furniture - EVERYTHING! Most of all, they gave me a true window into Belizean life and society. My conversations with them added depth to my stay and turned my experience into something memorable and authentic. Between the spotless cleanliness, the creative design, and the warm, genuine staff, Crash Pad Adventure Hostel is far more than a place to sleep, it feels like a whole experience. If you’re curious to explore Belize, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better hostel anywhere in the country.

Nothing! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, it's not fancy, but one of the best hostels I've stayed at. No complaints!

V0or de AC moet je weer extra betalen (30 á 20 USD per nacht). Alleen met de ventilator is het niet uit te houden in de kamer qua warmte. Gezien de hoge prijs die gevraagd wordt, dient de AC in de prijs te zitten. Werd een hele dure ruimte.

De inrichting is heel leuk De kamers zijn schoon De douche is warm Leuk dakterras met een gemeenschappelijke koelkast en een eigen voorraadkastje per kamer.

Emma was helaas niet aanwezig toen wij er waren. Ze had het beheer overgedragen aan iemand anders voor wie elke moeite teveel was: Tours worden op de website aangeboden. We moesten dat maar ergens anders regelen. Het was erg warm in de kamer want het gebouw ligt de hele dag in de zon. Ventilatoren hielpen echt niet en pompten alleen maar warme lucht rond. Je kunt airco kopen voor 15 euro per dag in het kader van duurzaamheid (begrijpelijk maar bij temperaturen rond de 35 graden voelt dit een klein beetje als chantage). We gaven aan dat we dat wilden maar de afstandsbediening was er niet en of we de volgende dag nog maar eens wilden vragen. Pas toen we Emma gingen appen kwam hij in actie in binnen een uur was de afstandsbediening geregeld. Het afrekenen van de airconditioning moest persé contant. De pinautomaat in het dorp was echter leeg. Je kunt alles met kaart betalen maar hij hield voet bij stuk; je kunt misschien bij de supermarkt extra pinnen? Als laatste vroegen we reisadvies voor de reis van Hopkins naar Rio Dulce. Dat is wat ingewikkeld en we wilden weten hoe we dit het beste konden aanpakken. Het antwoord: hetzelfde als de reis van Belize stad naar Hopkins maar dan omgedraaid…?? Kortom: Emma laat de tent niet meer alleen als er geen goede vervanger voor je is en doe wat aan de airco! Want buiten dat is het verder een leuk hostel.

Our tap was completely blocked on one side, resulting in higher pressure. This led to a small flood and mess every time we washed our hands....
