The Herring House

Very cozy and nice. Slept like a baby throughout the night in the cabin and really enjoyed my stay. I went down to the bakery and bought a snúður which I enjoyed with by the open window and it was a really great, almost nostalgic feeling to sit there and look at Siglufjörður. The owners were so warm and welcoming too. If there was an issue, they'd reply fast and they were super understanding. The owners showed me around and pointed to where everything is. Having my own bathroom and kitchen was a huge part of why I chose to stay at a cabin and it didn't disappoint. The bed was comfortable and there was very little noise so sleeping through the nights was very easy. I also liked that they had a hair dryer and lots of useful stuff in the cabin like scissors and other stuff in case you forgot it at home. Fantastic view of the town too. I didn't get a chance to try the hot tub but I will definitely do that if I stay here again. I had a great stay. Absolutely recommend this place!

However (these are very minor things) but if you have a lot of luggage or bad knees or something like that I will say there's some climbing to get to the cabins. The wifi was really bad during my stay. It wasn't a huge problem since I was busy with the comic festival but it was annoying. The outside shower wasn't my cup of tea either since I'm a very shy person (it was closed and all, I wasn't there in the nude in front of every town member or anything haha) and it was kinda cold so I had to rush.

We enjoyed our stay at The Herring House. Helga & Dagur were fantastic hosts. Breakfast was great: yogurt, breads, homemade jam, meat, fruit, juice. They kindly provided gluten free bread on request. The need was comfy. The room was dark and very quiet. We had a cabin with its own bathroom. Just be aware that the shower is outdoors and shared.

The accommodations were exactly as advertised. Our cabin was cozy and everything that we could possibly have needed for a two night stay was there for us to use. The owners are awesome hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our chats with them.

Great pizza just down the street and the guest cabin was super charming. Very quiet and comfortable. Very nice host. 10 out of 10!
