Scone Arms Hotel

The hotel was well maintained with modern decor. The room was clean and well stocked with tea/coffee making facilities. Spacious and clean bathrooms. Good menu and quality of food was good for the price.

We stayed in room 101 - which was fine when we checked in but when we returned to our room around 11pm there was a loud humming noise which was going on/off for around 5 minutes every 10-15 minutes. Due to the late hour, we decided to hope for the best and expected that it would shut off when the bar downstairs closed but unfortunately not. The noise continued the whole night and we got no sleep. When we complained in the morning the receptionist knew straight away without even asking that we must have been staying in room 101. There’s a refrigeration unit bolted to the outside of the external wall of room 101 which they said should have been on a timer. Regardless of whether it should have been on a timer or not - I wouldn’t have wanted to have been listening to that racket at any time of day. We were told another room would have been found for us if we’d let them know - why put us in there in the first place if other rooms were available??. No apologies, no discount on the room rate - just an assurance if we stay with them again they’ll make sure not to put us in 101 again.

Lovely hotel very clean

Very clean inside and secure over night. Comfortable bed and pillows

When we arrived the small radiator was on and it was quite warm in the room. I turned it off and then went for dinner. During the night it was still quite stuffy and even with window opened i just felt like I couldn’t make the room a cooler temperature for sleep.
