Psych a wonderful stay at Casal Dos Capelinhos for my friends and I- we felt so comfortable and at home thanks to the friendly staff like Miguel & Sarah. Would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful space in the Douro valley. The dinner was also amazing

Our stay was absolutely perfect! We wish we had planned to stay longer. We didn’t want to leave. From a warm welcome including tour of the grounds and a delicious welcome drink from Sara to an informative and fun wine tasting by Miguel, followed by a dinner on the patio, everything exceeded our expectations. The room was modern and spacious and the bathroom was huge. The shower was wonderful. We enjoyed our welcome drink on our patio, overlooking lime, olive, and apple trees as well as grape vines. The views were breathtaking. There are so many cute and cozy areas on the property to sit and read, talk or sip. We had a wine tap outside our room where we used a card to sample some wine. The morning breakfast buffet was great with fresh pastries, made to order eggs, fresh fruit, yogurts and more. Sara and Miguel offered many suggestions and recommendations for other places to visit in the Douro. If you are looking to come visit the Douro River Valley, you must book several nights at Casal Dos Capelinhos and prepare to be pampered. It was the best part of our Portugal stay.

Amazing staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. As we arrived late after dinner, the chef made super delicious food for us! The room is impeccable, quiet and we love the terrace!

Absolutely stunning - perfect service, dinner was amazing. And the room - view was right on point. Surroundings were breathtaking. Staff made sure that people enjoyed every minute. Best in Portugal, thanks Miguel and people of Casal dos Capelinhos!

Many nice things overshadowed by inconvenience and poor management. Good…breakfast and the staff that managed it was excellent. Fresh, delicious, good variety and good service. Location and overall beauty of the hotel property was great. However, our room #5, was dark and musty smelling. The bathroom door was a huge pivoting door that was broken and didn’t close. It was fixed a day later but it should have been fixed before our arrival, there is no way they didn’t know about it. The WiFi was down after our first night. The equipment for the WiFi was in our room so we had a repair man in our room. The first day after touring for 8 hours away from the room we came back to the repair man in our room. The second day after being gone for 5 hours same thing. Wi-Fi was still not working on top of us having no privacy and complete use of our room. No compensation was made by the hotel management!! No formal apology. No discount, bottle of wine, no gestures of apologies. Room 5 was a suite. The sitting area was sparsely furnished and not comfortable for relaxing, with one small wooden settee. Also no luggage racks for suitcases, not enough lighting, only other seating was an outdoor furniture bar with 6 stools, which we used to prop up our suitcases which didn’t was ideal. Small little table was in an outdoor cove outside of bed area that was surrounded by a 12ft high cement wall, no views. Photos on website do not represent the space accurately.
