Seto Ghar Hotel

Loved our stay here. We booked 3 nights but ended up extending to 5. Really lovely room and bathroom, the bed was so comfortable it was difficult to get up in the morning. We enjoyed the breakfast and having a drink in the evening at the courtyard bar. There was daily complimentary yoga every morning and a basic but perfectly functional gym. This place was a real treat after several weeks of trekking.

We loved the location, the hotel facilities, the courtyard bar and restaurant areas, as well as the decor, comfy bed, and afternoon tea on the little roof terrace. The hotel is beautifully presented and the room was a great place to relax. The breakfast was an excellent selection of things and the customer service was great. The best hotel we have stayed at in Thamel in terms of the daytime experience.

Sadly the windows do not fit brilliantly and are only single glazed - given this is a historic property this is not a surprise but it meant there was little in the way of sound insulation. We had requested that we be given a quiet room - given the hotel is in Thamel and the comments about noise in other reviews, we expected a lot going on outside. But sadly it was worse than we anticipated. The first night was New Year's Eve which was always going to be loud, but on our second evening, our sleep was still disturbed by traffic noise and people out and about outside. It's such a shame as we loved everything else about this hotel but because of the disturbed sleep we won't be returning.

Unfortunately I felt that the room had some air leakage from outside which made it difficult to breath. I had to sleep with my mask on which was very uncomfortable.

Beautiful building and really nicely decorated rooms. The courtyard is great and peaceful considering the location and the staff were really generous and helpful

My original room in Seto Ghar was great but the TV didn't work properly (although a member of the staff spent a long time trying to fix it; it just didn't continue to work after this) the wi-fi was very patchy and difficult to use as well. The main complaint I had was with the noise from outside my room. There was an extremely loud club across the street from my room that stayed open til 5am every day of the week! The windows were double glazed and single glazed but it was not enough to keep the noise out and unfortunately made me unable to sleep for the first 3 nights I stayed here. As I was returning from a trek a few days later (the staff very kindly held onto some luggage for me between stays), I was offered a different room on my return and the noise problem was not an issue. It's a shame because the hotel is great, the staff are great and the rooms are nice but the noise was a huge issue that I don't know how it could be addressed. Bearing in mind that the hotel is in Thamel, some noise is expected but this was a bit too much for me.

This place is absolutely stunning!!! All staff are so helpful and professional, even security at the front who are so welcoming. The food here is delicious, and the breakfast had a great variety. The room i was in was immaculately clean and also the bed was so comfy. I honestly struggled to leave and walk outside of this hotel. Thank you Seto Ghar for such a comfortable and lovely stay!
