Easy check in. Easy to find. Wish they had regular drip coffee maker instead of the keurig that was tricky to work. Bed was comfy.

I’m pretty disappointed by this hotel to be honest. When we booked, it said the amenities included a “communal patio”. This is only for some of the rooms and it ended up that our room was way over on the other side of the hotel with no balcony door or patio to sit outside at all. In addition, the hallway smelled horrible, almost like a stale musty chemical smell that actually made me feel ill. The room was ok. The restaurant in the hotel (Bankhead) was not good - it also had a stale musty smell and the service was slow, food also not good, no flavour and undercooked pasta, and I had to send it back. They gave me 15% off which is fine but probably should have offered me more since I didn’t really eat it. I know what you’re thinking - this is some picky person who finds fault with everything. I’m actually not usually one to complain and I have stayed in other Basecamp properties before so I was surprised by this experience and felt I should say something. For the price ($440 for the night) and a Basecamp property I expected much better. Very disappointed and will not stay here again.

Room was very clean and had a fireplace which was an added delight. Hotel was very clean with friendly staff.Many restaurants within walking distance.

Area was nice but I couldn’t find a bad area anywhere in Canmore. Hotel website states there is a communal patio however we went to use it and were told it’s no longer communal (this patio is why I booked there) virtual checkin/out which is fine but then a note beside door asking to tip cleaning staff(tacky) even though they don’t clean or make beds during your $450/night stay. I typically do tip but not when asked to tip for minimal work
