Hillcrest Motel

The room was clean and had everything we needed. The property out back was awesome. I wish I had more time to explore the trail in the back.

I didn’t sleep that great. At first I thought the bed was good. Maybe it was from the 4 nights prior of sleeping on a horrible mattress somewhere else. My partner and I both tossed and turned all night. I wish the shower was bigger. As a bigger guy I struggled a bit—definitely could never fit two people.

The motel had a nice area in the back for walking around.

The shower had obviously not been cleaned at all as it still contained remnants of used soap containers and a dirty towel from the last resident. Our sheets and pillows were covered in mysterious white stains and hairs that made us suspicious they had not been cleaned either. There were no headboards on the beds at all so they were quite uncomfortable as the pillows fell into the crack between the bed and wall. The complimentary in-room k-cup coffee machine was filthy on the inside of the water basin and I was uncomfortable using it at all.

The tv remote didn’t work right. Smelled too much of Lysol or cleaner. Door lock was very tricky.

This small very reasonably priced motel was given mostly excellent reviews and was listed as pet friendly and we were traveling with a dog. We were excited to see that they also didn’t require an extra payment for our dog so we decided to give it a try. We were really pleased that it lived up to the positive reviews. It is very well cared for, tastefully decorated with nice towels and comfortable beds. Although the rooms are not large they were fine for our needs. They have a nice large area behind the motel and away from the highway for dogs to get some exercise and care for their needs. The motel is right long the main highway and there is some traffic noise but we did not find that to be a problem for us. We slept very well. There were fewer amenities such as no boxed tissues, and only dry creamer in the bedroom and they noted that toothbrushes and toothpaste were not available but those things were not issues for us. Although we prefer to have someone in the office to great us, they have a very good system for checking in and are available by phone to answer questions and help with needs. We would we happy to stay there again especially if we were traveling with our dog.

Only issue we had was the cleaning chemicals smell was just a little strong. Otherwise it was great.

We didn't use the breakfast facilities.
