Room nice, bed is wonderful. Staff friendly, check in easy, very affordable. Downsides.. No ice. Property right at highway edge. Our room literally 30 feet from street (US 90). Fortunately, speed limit is low entering town, and walls are thick, so noise is well muted. We didn't mind, others may. We're in room 1. Rooms 10-11 furthest from street. Restaurants in easy walking distance.

"Nicely remodeled hotel."

8.0

The room was brand new remodeled. It was very clean and looked nice enough. They gave free toothbrush and soaps and the standard fair. Plenty of elbow room for 2 people. The downside is regular tv did not work. If you had a subscription of your own, you could log on but couldn't watch a single thing otherwise. Wi-Fi signal despite being right next to the office was weak at best but didn't really work overall. The neighbors had peacocks that screamed all night. The train went by all night. The air conditioner was too loud on low fan, but I guess that blocked a lot of the outside noise, just made too much inside noise. If you are a heavy sleeper with your own tv subscription, this place is perfect.

Our room #11 was very clean and well lit, the TV large, the mini-frig and microwave smallish but working. Water pressure was great and the toiletries provided very nice. The room had been sanitized thoroughly so that we had to leave the door open to air it out for a little time. The motel also had a working washer/drier ($5 for a load) in the middle passage way, but no icemaker. The wall AC cooled the room fine but the 2 speed fan was loud -- which turned out to be OK as the motel front abuts HW 90 and its rear is about 400 feet from railroad tracks for loooong freight trains that pass through the night so the AC zoned out the other sounds! The best sounds for me, however, were the cries of peacocks, which belonged to the motel owner next door. I think the 20 room motel is a gem in the middle of no where and would recommend it to any traveler looking for shelter on Route 90 (Just don't pay the special "Eclipse" price we did!) ;- )

I have stayed at this property before under the previous ownership. The new ownership has done a very good job of upgrading and specifically cleanliness.

Stay away from the far ends rooms. Next to noisy Hwy 90 traffic at front and constant freight trains at back rooms. Also, neighbors have roosters that start crowing at 5:30 in the morning.

"Sabinal Inn met my expectations"

10.0

My night at Sabinal Inn met my modest expectations for a basic, no-frills room at the lowest price in the county. The room may have been renovated in recent years, as it did not appear as outdated as the room shown in the primary photo on Hotels.com. The room was visibly clean and adequately stocked with soap, shampoo, towels, and toilet paper, though facial tissue is not provided. The room is furnished with a padded bench for luggage, a refrigerator and microwave oven, as well as an ironing board, but no coat rack or hanging closet. The front of the property is located right on the highway (U.S. 90) and the rear faces the railroad line, so one is certain to hear the rumble of passing trains, as well as vehicular traffic in the night. Nevertheless, I did not have any difficulty sleeping. The property is a small, single-story building with exterior corridors, so guests can park right in front of their rooms. I found the owners and staff to be friendly and welcoming. Due to the small scale of the establishment, the office is not continuously staffed, but a phone call sufficed to summon assistance with check-in. Thus I recommend the Sabinal Inn for travelers looking for adequate, low-cost (by current standards) accommodations suitable for a short-term stay.
