Rest Ashored, Aldeburgh

Super clean, comfy beds and everything we needed for a long weekend away. Great location for Aldeburgh (walking) and exploring the rest of the area by car.

Property was beautifully finished and exceptionally clean . Lots of local info available and lovely touches like welcome pack record player etc .

As others have said; the house is spacious, bright and comfortable with almost everything you could need. The sofas envelope around you, the beds are cosy, the showers hot and powerful with plenty of hot water. The garden is enclosed with a BBQ and table. The location is perfect. While not on the high street, it is in a quiet area on the edge of farmland and the old railway line. You can take a short cut along the path and be on the beach in a few minutes. There is a Tesco and coop just down the road. Aldeburgh has plenty of cafes and restaurants but you will need to book to ensure you have a table. The house was tidy and clean and certainly didn't appear to be a place that allowed dogs. As a three story townhouse you certainly get your steps in. There is a kitchen and dining room downstairs, a sitting room, children's room with two singles and shower room on the first floor and a super king with ensuite, family bathroom and small double on the second floor. You will probably need the electronic advice brochure to work some of the appliances, but most are self explanatory. We had a very restful few days while the weather was damp and blustery. We enjoyed lots of walks and good food. The house is well insulated and warm. We didn't need to contact the agents so can't comment on that. We would certainly return to this accommodation, other than the oven it was all perfect.

The garden does not have a bolt or lock on the gate, so you would need to monitor children in the garden. The oven is rather unpredictable and has a burning smell. We ended up not bothering and going out for food after trying to cook with it. A minor point but depends on your budget.

Rest Ashored is a new-built house about 10 minutes walk to town center and beach, really perfect. The rooms were spotless and well equipped. I especially liked that the owners left maps and other information on the area, so it was easy to find a footpath that we wanted to explore. Also, there were binoculars for those who neglected to bring theirs. The only reason I would not rate this as exceptional is I think the stove top is difficult to use, and the instructions were not complete, we had to call the management, who responded immediately with what we needed to do. This model may be standard for the UK but for me, anything with knobs is preferable to pressing interminably to find the right temperature.

I thought the cleaning fee, almost a third the cost of the rental, was unreasonable, especially considering the stern warning about removing all glass from the site and the recommendation to strip the beds. This is a management issue, not the property owners'. Really, for 189 pounds, I think the cleaning staff should be able to handle a wine bottle and sheets.

Great size for a family, though we travelled as a couple, kitchen has everything you need, bed was really comfortable

Needs blackout blinds in the bedrooms, we travelled without our toddler and hope for a lay in

Easy to collect keys as it was a lock box. Accommodation was spacious, clean, nicely decorated and furnished. Nice extras such as record player and wine fridge. Toilet on each floor. Private garden with table and chairs, BBQ.

A couple of windows didn’t have blinds or curtains for privacy or to help keep out the sun
