The Hamilton Hoppin House

After visiting a number of the mansions close by it was great to come and stay in one

The house is an absolutely amazing place. So full of character. We felt like lords of the manor!

Lovely old historic mansion, huge rooms and such a comfy bed. Only us seemed to be staying in the house, which was a little un-nerving considering the properties history! No owners are on site and there is nobody to greet you. Entry is difficult as it is all done remotely. Excellent value for money and very convenient for Newport and its amenities.

This place was beautiful. The room were decorated in historical theme. We love the keyless entrance and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. We never saw one person. The only complaint we had was the water needs to be run for 15 minutes before the water got hot enough to take a shower. Other than that we would love to stay there again.

Our room #1 was warm and comfortable besides the flickering light in the bathroom I was helped by Lilli with towels, coffee & hangers the second day of our stay.

The house was dark besides two lamps in the hall way. The temperature of the house was cold. Coming up to the front door, windows all dark inside it was strange. Coming into the main hall with no one there and partially lit was strange. We turned on many lights to see the downstairs and proceeded to the dark upstairs. Lighting our way seeing the dark beauty of the house. Our room was warm unlike the rest of the house. I could not get over there was no one there to tend to the house making it alive and homey. Strange to be there and a few night we were the only ones there. Uneasy feeling for sure

My overall experience was poor. The contact number provided with vague arrival instructions is different from the # Hotels.com uses. There wasn't anyone ever available on-site. The bed, well you sink 6 inches anytime you sat/laid on it. There was no instructions on how the heating system provided and the room. The reason we checked out early, was finding multiple electrical issues in the room, including an outlet behind the bed missing cover plate (exposed contacts) and a broken cover plate adjacent to the sink.

Honestly this hotel is probably the coolest place I’ve ver stayed. It’s truly something special. The moment we stepped through the doors I knew it was going to be a great stay. The vibe is so haunting and gorgeous.
