The Montague Rose Inn & Cafe

The room was clean and nice. The owner was helpful when he arrived.

The grounds are not very well kept. No one is there to help with check-in. No one was in their cafe.

The host was congenial and receptive when we arrived .

The main problem was the cleanliness of the room. Sheets and bedspread were dirty. Sheets looked slept in and gross stains in the bedspread . No brk available (that we would pay for) until 8 thirty and we had to leave by 7 thirty.

Innkeepers were fabulous - friendly & helpful.

Location cleanliness friendly staff who greeted us and helped with getting our luggage to the room.

The location was excellent - close to shops, restaurants and Kingsbrae Gardens. Our host were extremely personable and helpful.

The towels were really sad. They were thin and discolored from so many washings. Also the mattress was not that comfortable.

Had to leave our room to use washroom. It was fine but not as handy as having one in your room. It is the only room without a bathroom so I guess it was the luck of the draw. Not a big concern because everything else was perfect.

This house was very interesting and the owners are very nice and diligently restoring/maintaining much of the original character. There were some minor issues with the coffee appliances (tricky switches) and the refrigerator was not cold enough. Also we were unable to watch TV because the remote control batteries were dead and it was too late to call the owners. The cafe had very limited offerings, which was disappointing as we had hoped to breakfast there before we left for home. When we arrived, (after 9 pm) the owners told us that room that was readied for us was not dog friendly but although they made an exception for one night. They moved our room the next night. Clearly there are communication problems between Expedia and this Inn, as we were clear about needing a pet friendly accommodation with Expedia. That being said, our experience was generally positive and its location to the main attractions in the village is certainly a great selling point.
