Queen Mary

my stay at the queen mary was faultless. communication was excellent the room was amazing with attention to detail. there was a welcome gift of fruit and raki there was even a medical kit. i will definitely stay there again. absolutely fabulous

2025 August 11-18, room 4. Communication with Mary was very good, she was very friendly and ready to act promptly. The beds are very good, we had changes of bedsheets every third day, Pillows, air-condition, wi-fi excellent. TV is OK, but only with channels in greek. Kitchen is very well packed with a relatively small fridge. Bar desk is very useful. Terrace is relatively big with excellent view while sitting, and a little spoiled with tent roof of pizzeria below which you see when you stand up. But, generally speaking, the apartment is very good with great terrace, bedroom space and other facilities.

Bathroom is very small, although washbasin (sink) and toilet bowl are well positioned, shower is without tub just using floor drain grate and the space is relatively small, so you splash everything around. You have to take dustbin and toilet paper out of bathroom each time you have a shower and to wipe the floor to dry it. The door on bathroom, as well as the main door of the room, are of light metal without any seal between frames, so normal closing produces sound of slam. Soft sealings glued between frames in a few places would solve the problem on both doors.

Just the location.

The apartment was smelly, furniture, although not looking old, was shabby and not functional. The kitchen cabinet doors were hanging off the hinges, the cooker was so slow that we couldn’t heat up a cup of milk in a reasonable time, let alone wait for two cups to boil on the stove. The kitchen tap was wobbly, but repaired at our request. The safe couldn’t be opened or closed because of some damage or some other unknowable cause, so we were given a key to carry around, which is not why people need a safe box in the first place. The bathroom is small, the sink is glued to its stand, the water accumulates in the sink quickly, so you have to wait for it to empty out before you can finish brushing your teeth. And the shower is a joke. There is so little room between a plastic curtain, the sink and the toilet that showering is just another unpleasant experience in a very badly done apartment.The beds were like 2 concrete blocks, impossible to sleep on. When we asked for something soft to put under our sheets to mitigate the torturous firmness of the beds, we were given a thin quilted bed cover and a small threadbare piece of fluffy blanket, none of which had helped. The air conditioning unit was either freezing or totally useless since the remote control commands and modes didn’t fully correspond with the unit. The check-in time is inflexible and people who travel all night to reach Chania have to wait until 2pm to check-in. There’s no room allocated to safekeeping the guests’ luggage either, so we had to rent a car at the airport and drive around until 1pm so that we didn’t have to drag our luggage around for 5 hours. My husband and I travel a lot, all around the world. Most of the time we stay at hotels and 4- 5-star apartments, in Crete as well as anywhere else, so a house on the beach with just 4 apartments sounded great. However, the apartment(s) is done on-the-cheap and therefore can’t provide enough comfort for a decent stay.
