Samaria by the Sea

Emplacement top / facile d'accès, restaurant et bar ( peu onéreux).

Matelas ( surmatelas en fait ). Archi bruyant la nuit, alors que tout ferme assez tôt, 23 heures, a 1h30 du matin on peut entendre beaucoup de monde dans le bar exterieur de l'hôtel. Un jour le café coute 1.80€, le lendemain 3€ pour le même café servi par la même personne.

We stayed at the top floor of the hotel, nice view of the bay. The owners are a family and they are present at all times. They have nice taverna and cafe. Helpful for whatever you need :)

De ligging van het hotel is heel centraal, met uitzicht over zee.

The hotel is in a prime spot with lovely views. The staff were excellent and even held my bag for 2 days whilst hiking. They couldn't do enough for us ans even lent us beach towels. The rooms are very clean and the beds extremely comfy. It was the best 2 night's sleep we had all holiday as we were moving around a lot.

Fabulous view, centrally located

The room has a beautiful view. A small balcony adds to the feeling of being in a special place. you can take the ferry to other remote villages along the southern coast.

Tourism as a whole is like a two edged sword. Cretans need to create a sustainable living so they build out from small beginnings to bigger and touristy destinations. That's what Hora Sfakion has become. 300+ locals that host way too many people. There is no bad guy here. When a place becomes too crowded or claustrophobic, I feel like I am more of a customer than a visitor.
