Experience of staying in an old traditional house in Kyoto without breaking the bank. In a quiet residential area, away from the crowd. Clean and facilities are good and new. Two supermarkets are within walking distance so you can easily grab riceballs, yoghurt, fruit and filtered coffee bags for breakfast. Mini garden can be viewed by lifting the paper curtain in the living room and also from the bathtub. Finally figured out how to warm up the rooms by setting the timer - press 切 for stopping 0.5 hour before you leave in the morning, then press 入 for starting and choose the number of hours you expect to come back. I guess it is worth taking a taxi from Kyoto Station. If you are travelling solo, be aware that Google map will show you the alleys after exiting JR Tambaguchi Station, which is quite difficult to navigate especially in the evening. Take the main road where the traffic is, walk towards the direction of supermarket Frescia. Turn right into the road when you see the one-to-one tutoring school. Walk past the post office. Turn into the gravel lined alley in front of it and you can see the accommodation 1,2 3 close to one another.

Bring your own slippers, as surfaces without mattresses can be quite hard and cold. As expected for an old house, insulation is not as good as modern buildings. Communal areas like the toilet and kitchen can be quite cold in winter / spring time, so dress warm. If you are taking an elderly traveller, be aware that staircase can be quite steep and the bedrooms are upstairs.

A beautiful traditional house. Very clean, lots of space, close to supermarkets and the next station. All in all a very nice experience.
