The location and the kind staff and the air conditioning!

No natural daylight in the room and the cost of breakfast. I know the portions are huge but perhaps as there is no kitchen, offer a smaller option for less money.

If I had to summarize my experience in one sentence: if I ever return to Galle, I would never choose this property again. To be honest, I would describe it more as a guesthouse than a hotel. The biggest advantage of this place is definitely the location. It is situated inside the tourist area of Galle Fort, which is absolutely the best area to stay if you are visiting Galle. Being able to walk around the fort and nearby cafés and attractions is very convenient. The entrance and reception area are combined with a café, and upon arrival we were welcomed with a watermelon juice drink, which was a nice touch. The staff were also polite and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are located upstairs and there is no elevator, although the staff kindly helped carry our luggage. Unfortunately, things became very disappointing once we reached the room area. The hallway constantly smelled like a mixture of café food and sewage. The rooms themselves were extremely small and very dirty. The floor was so unclean that it actually felt sticky when walking on it. While the bed sheets and pillows appeared relatively clean, I personally ended up using my own pillowcase and sheet for comfort. The bathroom was also in very poor condition and not properly clean. Even worse, there were cockroaches inside. One night, I woke up because my wife screamed after seeing a cockroach in the bathroom. The rooms also have a very small window facing the internal hallway, which is not really useful because you have to keep the curtains closed all the time for privacy. Overall, I absolutely do not recommend this property. I booked it because of its high rating and positive reviews, but I completely regretted the decision. If I return to Galle in the future, I would definitely spend more money for a better hotel that at least meets basic hygiene and cleanliness standar

Great place, very well located, people very kind, I loved it

Location is perfect, the A/C is cold, the bed is comfortable, the bedding is clean, the staff are very friendly and enthusiastic, the room is quiet. I didn’t need anything more. Shop with beauty dresses just opposite the entrance. I’m happy I rented it, as I could just step out of my door and start exploring the area

Too strong smell of cloves (but in 1 night it was gone), lack of hooks or shelves, window opens to the inner yard gallery (but I didn’t feel any problem about that, as I sent all the time outside, so actually only needed a bed to sleep and a shower). The water from shower runs onto the door and then inside the room. But you’re living inside a centuries old fort, for sure it was built with some other space planning approach, it’s amazing it has a private toilet room already. It’s an adventure, really, why bother
