Cabana Club by Southern Vacation Rentals

204 is a good condo. It just needs a little love. A little paint goes a long way. Carpet was spotty. Furniture is comfy and t.v. large. Kitchen stocked well. Never figured out how to make ice in the fridge. But, that could be my issue. There is a hole in the bathroom which needs repairing. Bed was comfy. Washer and dryer worked well. 204 is right next to the elevator, but not to worry I never once heard it - even though I thought I would. Only really negative thing is a/c was on lock down. Could not go below 70. I'm in hot flash mode and that did not make me happy. Beach was beautiful the whole week. FYI beach set up is $150 for the week.

We stayed in 305 in mid-September 2016. There were several pros to the unit: beautiful beach view from the unit balcony--one evening we watched a wedding take place on the beach, owner communicated before, during and after our stay, nice decor, comfortable bed, kitchen well stocked, Jack and Jill bathroom is very convenient, closet in the entryway was full of beach stuff for our use. Unit was clean, and the washer/dryer was convenient. The private beach is wonderful, and we appreciated no crowds in the fall. Lots of our 'peeps' on vacation at the same time. Several people said they come back at this time every year. Cons: AC makes a lot of noise, but at least it worked well, kitchen is in serious need of updating--everything is original to the unit, shower was terrible--the original liner makes the shower tight and uncomfortable. Don't drop the soap! You'll be hanging out of the shower if you bend over to pick it up!

Stayed in room 308 in September 2017. Very nice room and beautiful view. A couple issues, the shower is very tiny. Hard to even turn around and my husband and I are not large people. Large jetted tub, but we're not much on taking baths. Another concern was we were out on the balcony and the pest control people let themselves in. The door was locked so evidently they had a key. They knocked on the sliding door to the balcony and startled us. My purse and my husband's wallet were lying right on the bar. Everything seemed fine and nothing was missing, but thought we should have been told they would be stopping by. Other than that we enjoyed it and hope to return but will try a different unit with a larger shower.

Although the unit has new stainless steel appliances, the unit is dirty and rundown. I expect more for a 4-night $1,000 stay. Carpet and furniture is filthy. Dusty ceiling fan (that doesn't work) in bedroom, scummy shower floors, and bathroom doors are so dirty and disgusting. Outside screens are torn and shades for sliding glass door is missing slats. Wifi is slow and ice maker is not connected. There is limited parking. though we noticed there is overflow parking across from the Sea Oats motel when we left. The unit does have a good HVAC system and quite spacious with 2 nice TVs. It does have a great view and easy beach access with 3 Weber grills on site.

Our room, unit 201, was gorgeous! Decor was modern, bed was very comfortable, loved the living room furniture, had 2 full beautiful bathrooms. We were greatful for the ice maker in the refrigerator. The view was fantastic. Easy access to the beach. Very friendly people in the area. Were able to rent chairs and umbrella. Loved being on the end unit. Office not too far away. Didn't use the small pool. Had everything we needed in unit. Would definitely stay there again!! Only negative would be the parking is a little tight but we always found a spot.

We've stayed here before and usually request 301. Great shower, easy beach access. Beach is private and not crowded. Parking is a little tricky if you come in late. One night we were out till 10 and had to park across the street. Not a big deal but wonder if some guest have multiple vehicles. Wifi isn't super fast but better than it was 8 years ago when we first started coming. This is my favorite beach destination.

Unit 102 was disgustingly dirty. The sofas had ivory canvas slip covers that were stained and absolutely filthy. We used our beach towels to cover it so we could sit on it! The main bath area had mold on the ceiling and shower enclosure. We did not have linen for 2 of the 3 beds the first night- had to run to walmart to get some. The following day the manager did bring linen to us. The microwave did not work and the refrigerator was rusted on the outside. The location is good and the beach gorgeous. We have been going to Destin annually and have never been so disappointed in our lodging. There are much better units at the same cost elsewhere!

We stayed at Cabana Club during spring break April 2017 and it was amazing. The property is not too big with only about 30 units and the unit that we stayed in #107 was beautiful. Very clean and spacious for 2 adults and 2 children. The private access to the beach was a great perk and because of that it wasn't crowded at all on our section of the beach. The view from cabana club was great and it was a great opportunity for us to have some needed family bonding time.

We stayed in 201 and will say this place was amazing! The view from the balcony was gorgeous. We stayed for 7 nights. The weather the week before was warm but our week wasn't as warm. Highs were only in the upper 50's and low 60's so we couldn't spend a lot of time on the beach. Our last day it got to 70 and was very nice. We were told the weather can be spotty in mid-March so plan accordingly. However, that didn't stop us from having fun. There is plenty to do in Destin. First, the condo itself was very well decorated with modern furniture and fixtures. The showers were amazing and the bed was very comfortable. Only complaints would be that they need to update the microwave and the TV's. The TV's were small for our taste. The condo had free wifi and it would come and go if you were streaming a movie on Netflix or Hulu. The TV's are not smart TV's so we had to stream movies from our iPad by connecting it with an HDMI cord. Also, the wifi is NOT secure so anyone can get on your wifi. I'd recommend a secure wifi for the condo. Could help with bandwidth issues. The site has an elevator which is good if you are not on the bottom floor. We took the stairs but the elevator was nice for bringin luggage up and down. Also, we had a beach cart with our heavy duty cooler so the elevator made it nice to bring it down. The beach area was fabulous! If you don't bring your own chair and umbrella for the beach it is available for $30 a day for two chairs and an umbrella or $150 for the week. It's a good deal if you don't want to lug chairs down every day. The beach attendants are there early at 8:30 am setting them up. They remove the chairs at 5:00 pm. Also, there are jet ski rentals and wake board rentals. The good thing about this beach is it is private so you don't have a lot of issues with outsiders. To get to the beach there is an access with a code to get in and out. This limits the public a lot. The site has three grills that can be used on site. We didn't use the grills but it's nice to have in case you want to grill out your favorite foods. Just a note about tolls getting to Destin. There is a $4 toll to get over the long bridge to Destin. It took us almost an hour to get through the tolls at around 2:30 pm in the afternoon. There are only 3 lanes to pay plus another one for the SunPass folks. I'd recommend allowing yourself some extra time to get through there if you are coming to Destin. When leaving on the same bridge it's another $4 to leave but no issues with lines since we left around 5:30 am the day we left. One last recommendation for the owner or Sea Oats is to put in a ceiling fan in the living room. It would help move the air a bit there. Also, the unit has a washer and dryer. Bring some laundry detergent if you want to wash some clothes. This may help you decide whether to bring extra clothes or not with the ability to wash clothes. I know we will bring way less clothes next time! We don't like to pack! All in all, we will be back to Cabana Club. Good value for the location!

We've stayed at Cabana Club multiple times a year since 2008....4 times in the past 12 months in unit 106. The location is fabulous - right on the beach. The condo is well-decorated, always clean, and close to more shopping and restaurants than we'd ever get to. There are of course many options in Destin but I don't see us changing what works for us. A++.
