Not every day you get to stay in a house where the owner's roots go back to Portuguese royalty :) We absolutely loved our stay in Santiago Family House - staff made us feel very welcome, communication was fast and reliable, the room and the house overall was sparkling clean, nice and comfortable. You get to use the kitchen and all it's utilities which is specially nice when arriving late or staying for a longer period. Pool was a very welcome extra after a hot day and for a morning dip. Overall a very lovely stay, both me and my husband wished we could have stayed for more than just one night.

Santiago Family house was a joy to stay in.The manageress who met us and looked after us was a wonderful warm friendly person who attended to our every need. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful,the bedrooms and bathrooms super stylish and so clean and the beds dreamy comfortable. Other areas of the house were beautifully decorated and comfortable. This place is an absolute jewel and if you are in the area definitely stay there!

"The room was awesome."

The Portuguese lady who greeted us was so lovely! Very helpful & a brilliant sense of humour - but the one we had on Sunday morning was not so much.

We were in Portugal to work & asked for breakfast at 07:00 as we had to leave at 07:20 - and after waiting 20 minutes, it still wasn’t ready (it was on a Sunday morning) - fine if you have time up your sleeve, but we didn’t on that day. So it was annoying.

"Lovely guesthouse in the country side"

Santiago Family House is a beautiful guest house located north of Coimbra. We were welcomed by the owner and everything was explained to us. The room we got was big and modern. The breakfast was fantastic and had all we needed. Although we didn't try out the pool it looked great and both the pool and garden were well-kept.

The location is relatively remote and away from the traditional tourist path. While we enjoyed this, it was a challenge to find a restaurant to have dinner at. Before check-in, we received a list of restaurant recommendations (between <1km and 38km away). Unfortunately, the ones close by were all closed so we had to drive for 25 minutes by car to find one that was open.
