"Beautiful property, but poor communication and owner hostility means I cannot recommend this stay."

The residence itself is genuinely beautiful, a spacious, well-designed 3-bedroom self-catering property in an excellent location. Once we finally accessed it, the accommodation was exactly as advertised and clearly superior to the hotel we were placed in for the first part of the stay.

This is a high-priced booking (USD 2,600.08 for 8 nights), and the experience fell well below expectations due to poor handling of a double booking, weak communication, and unacceptable behaviour from the owner. After our booking was confirmed, we were informed of a double booking for the first three nights and moved to a hotel, despite having paid for a 3-bedroom residence. Although it was agreed that each guest would have their own room, we were initially placed in one hotel room with two double beds, which was not an acceptable substitute. This was only corrected on the second day. On the day we were meant to transfer to the residence, pickup was confirmed for 11:00. However, no one arrived and all calls and messages went unanswered until just before 13:00. Although the owner was our main point of contact throughout, responsibility for the delay was later shifted to the driver. We paid the full original price throughout. Based on hotel invoices we were asked to sign (but not pay), the hotel stay for days 1 and 2 was clearly cheaper. When we reasonably requested a partial discount to reflect the inconvenience, the situation escalated. The owner shouted during the call and attempted to justify the pricing and service by emphasising that the furnishings were South African–designed, comparable to properties in Sandton, Johannesburg, and implied that, as Africans, we should understand this context. This felt dismissive and served to deflect from the service failures. At this price point, neither the service nor issue handling aligned with those comparisons. During this same interaction, on the day of our transfer, the owner also threatened eviction, which was entirely inappropriate. Once we finally accessed the residence, it was as advertised; however, there was no hot water, and on departure we were pressured to vacate 15–20 minutes before our communicated checkout time of 12:00, despite the property advertising checkout between 12:00 and 15:00.

I like proximity to everything around and it’s quite and calm area, very good for families

The property was beautiful just like in the pictures,however I was not pleased with the payment options. As per my booking I was supposed to pay in dollars however when I got there Lydia informed me they preferred in local currency which when I tried to convert it was way more than the amount I’m supposed to pay. Eventually after discussing with them they agreed for me to pay in dollars which I gave 500 dollars however my balance was never returned even after asking. I also needed receipt which I kept asking and the day I was leaving they told me it will be sent on WhatsApp but until now they never send it. Also the last day I was almost late for my flight as there was no water in the house and they kept telling me they are fixing the water issue. The staff eventually had to fetch water in a bucket that that wasn’t hygienic for me to shower. Honestly that wasn’t quite a good experience.

We enjoyed our stay in Alvanti residences. Lydia was an amazing host . Very central location with good access to local supermarket Melcome. It is essential, especially if you need water and food supply after long flight to Ghana . To find a decent supermarket in Ghana is literally impossible outside Accra ,especially when you coming from UK/Europe..
