This monastery turned into a hotel was fabulous. Beautiful. Rooms are completely modern. The restaurant was spacious and the food was very good. The breakfast was outstanging. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The location in the town of Alcobaca was great. It was quiet and peaceful but you could walk about the town. Not as hilly as some towns. Can walk to many restaurants. And the church that is part of the complex can be visited. There is a free section and a more extensive tour for a small cost.

The hotel is located in one of the monastery cloisters and staying there was a great experience. The rooms are large and luxurious. There is surface parking outside the hotel entrance.

We have booked this amazing hotel for our Gala dinner for Global Fairpay. We stayed for 5 nights and we had our VIP guests from all over the world . Every guest has given us excellent feedback about their stay. We had Royal families including Duke and Duchess of Braganza and Royal family of Habsberg for the event . Also Mayor of Alcobaca as well Vice Mayors attended the event . I would highlight Ms Joanna Lisboa Vitorino and she been our contact to organise event from day one. She has been amazing with great attention to detail , courteous , flexible and can do attitude . We had enormous requests , change in plans , amendments but she has never said No . She was with us from arrival till event finished successfully. Always with a smile and efficiency. Everything mentioned for the event was spot on . Ms Hèlia Carvalho Director of the hotel is a great host . She met us on our day one . She spent significant amount of her time with me to understand our expectations and what our plans will be . She was the last person left our event to make sure everything has been done upto standards . She is calm , great listener and handson . It has been noticed that she helps guests at reception as well you will find her in different parts of hotel to make sure standards are exceeding guests expectations.She is a "Great Hotelier " . Anna from Front office has communicated v effectively and I met her in person and I found very friendly, polite and professional. On our last day she has a colleague and sadly I missed her name and she has been terrific . V attentive at reception morning time . Front desk manager Ms Marisa Couto is managing her dept v well and can shows with their efficiency, smile in every interaction and willingness to help and going extra mile . Whether we needed large envelopes or water bottles she make it happen. Absolutely 5 star and best person in hospitality business . Executive Chef Mr Bruno Mendes and entire culinary team did a fantastic job . Food was amazing, delicious and Excellent presentation . Head waiter Mr Dinis Carvalho has done a fabulous job. Table setup , Beverage and food service were prompt and immaculate. Every team member in his team was willing to service with manners and I would like to highlight Mr Dinis Carvalho as I am sure he was the one who got me an " Ice cream " after event was finished . I didnot had my dessert and all were finished and kitchen was closed . Mr Carvalho arranged for me ice cream . I very much appreciate as he had the option to say No but he tried his best to satisfy my need and definitely exceeded my expectations . All BELL desk staff , porters been amazing . Our porter on our last day was Mr Dèrcio Sindique who has handled all luggage by himself and a v polite and professional gentleman. This hotel has great postive vibes , excellent cleanliness , housekeeping has done a great job . All rooms were cleaned timely and with high standard . Mr Pedro every day at breakfast has looked after all of us v v well . Always with a smile . Its the only breakfast restaurant I ever come across that one person can handle everything. Absolutely a super star . V positive attitude and every request he accepts with a smile . We all loved Mr Pedro . I dined twice at hotel main restaurant and food and service been excellent. All staff during lunch was amazing . We will be definitely coming back again to this beautiful hotel and beautiful town of Alçobaca . Thankyou Montebelo hotel for your great hospitality .

Location, breakfast and architecture. Comfortable room.

The ambience is too empty (some paintings on the walls of the corridors for example would make the space more comfortable). We had to walk quite a bit from the lift to our room, maybe there are not enough lifts or they are not properly indicated.

Great location. Easy parking. Wonderful historic hotel with plenty of character. Large room and very roomy and spacious surroundings within the hotel all kept to the highest standards. We would definitely recommend/visit again if in the area.

Could have done with more coathangers in the wardrobe. There was a conference on at the time and breakfast was a bit busy and noisy. Really can't think of anything else we didn't like.

A localização, a simpatia dos funcionários e o conforto da cama.

1 - Apesar do conforto, o aspecto austero conservado dos tempos de mosteiro causa alguma impressão. 2 - Mas do que realmente não gostei foi da falta de tratamento para reduzir a fenomenal acústica do espaço onde funciona o restaurante. À hora do jantar, quando lá estive, mesmo grupos pequenos dão a impressão de um estádio lotado em dia de FCP X Benfica. Acredito que a administração poderia fazer alguma coisa para minimizar esse efeito que é fruto, certamente, da arquitectura original com tectos abobadados que fazem o som reverberar imenso. À parte a boa comida da cozinha, o barulho, dada essa particularidade da sala, é mesmo desagradável.
