Elpiniki's Old House

Beautiful and cozy house on the main road of Kalopanayiotis. It’s a traditional place with a lovely verandah and an even nicer fireplace. There's Wifi and it works really well. Comfy bed. Parking options are nearby. The house heats up easily and has reliable hot water. The host, Mrs. Afroditi, left us water, tea, and bread to enjoy, which was a thoughtful gesture. She had also decorated the house in a Christmas theme, which felt endearing. It’s an unusual experience, so don’t expect something as polished as a mountain hotel, and this was precisely its charm. If you have time, pay a visit to the Folklore Museum in the nearby village of Pedoulas. It was one of the highlights of our stay.

The host charged us 10 € extra per night for using the fireplace, a fee we weren’t aware of. She only informed us after we had already used it the first night, which left us feeling uneasy and a bit monitored, since we weren’t sure how she knew we used it. This should be stated in advance, written inside the house, or included in the listing, so guests can decide beforehand whether they want to use the fireplace. Checkout also felt a bit rushed. We needed to leave, and she asked us to wait for her; I wasn’t sure if it was simply to greet us or to ensure we paid the extra fee (which we did). Overall, the situation left me unsettled. I’d return for the house itself, but I strongly recommend that the host inform travellers of any additional costs upfront. We paid 207 € for two nights at this time of year, plus 20 € for the fireplace. Charges should either be stated beforehand or included in the total price, because unexpected fees after the fact don’t give guests a fair choice and tend to leave a poorer impression.

Excellent location, very clean and cozy house! We loved the old antique furnitures! Mrs Afroditi the hostess is very friendly.

Very cosy place. Fully equipped kitchen. Lots of games like uno, trivia pursuit, cards. Walking distance to everywhere. Comfortable bed.
