"Wonderful stay"

10.0

Arriving at the Wilber Mansion is like opening a lovely gift! Everything is just beautiful, expertly renovated! Lou is the ultimate host! The beverage manager and the young lady preparing cocktails each night are wonderful at their jobs(I’m sorry I don’t remember their names) The only downside of the Wilbur is that it spoiled us for everywhere else as we continued our road trip!

"Wonderful location and fabulous historical structure with a great staff."

8.0

Great renovation... a classic building.

The breakfast was a little underwhelming... we were anticipating brewed coffee but when the basked arrived it contained two K-cups. Why bother... we already had those in our room. The pastry was, well, not that geat. Still, we did not stay there for a great breakfast. Most everything else was OK. Suggestion: leave a note about operating the mini-split. WIth no wall stat we did not even notice the well-concealed remote control and the room "slept hot". The vaccuming in the hallway at 8am was not too much of a bother since we were awake.

"Amazing Stay and Even Better Staff"

10.0

I don’t usually write reviews but I had to for this one. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and very clean. The staff was amazing. Everyone was so friendly, patient and welcoming. Louis was incredible, and so was our server at the restaurant. The host, whose name I unfortunately forgot, was truly exceptional. When I was feeling sad and wanted to cancel my dinner reservation, he did everything he could to cheer me up. I ended up going to dinner and he honestly made my night. Louis was also extremely kind, helpful and always made us feel taken care of throughout our stay. I will definitely be recommending this hotel to my friends and family and we will absolutely be coming back.

We have stayed in many beds and breakfasts over the years. None can hold a candle to this one. Staff went out of their way to welcome and accommodate us.

"Pretty Good to a Mix Really"

8.0

I made the reservation because we needed someplace to stay near downtown Bethlehem. Pluses: Interesting architecture. Different from your usual hotel. Generally nice. Highest shower (8 foot high showerhead) and bathroom (20 feet?) I have ever had= scenic. Minuses: Had trouble with TV remote. Had some trouble getting comfortable room temperature. Wedding event and guests were loud. In other reviews, people praise the hotel staff, we never actually had any contact with the hotel staff while visiting. Maybe they were too busy with the wedding? I could not spot anyone in the lobby who looked like hotel staff. We did eat at restaurant too, and our waitress was very polite. As others have pointed out, the free breakfast (mentioned on travel sites) is not really a breakfast like you would get at a Comfort Inn, etc. but a nicely decorated small pre-determined snack. Climbing up and down the 3 floors of stairs with luggage is a haul. (I can see why it would be hard to put in an elevator, but maybe some kind of luggage dumbwaiter?) I do not know how one would manage with a bad back, heavy luggage, or old or injured. So, I would say interesting but a mixed bag.

"A Gem in Bethlehem"

10.0

I always have mixed feelings about writing reviews and do not write many. I trek to Bethlehem relatively often as one of my children attends a university there. Bethlehem is a beautiful historic village. Typically, I stay in the village, however, I decided to change things up and stay at the Wilbur Mansion. Firstly, I feel the establishment sits on the border of bed and breakfast and boutique hotel. The place has a a really interesting history and narrative. If you are a appreciator of beautiful restorations-you will love the tactile feel of the plus century hand crafted woodwork ordaining the place. There is stained glass and beautifully restored hard wood floors. The interior brings in some modern touches but in a very nuanced and serene manner so as to enhance the historical serenity. The Wilbur has a beautiful bar with an amazing happy hour. The drink menu is unique and all of the drinks I had are made by hand-no pre-fab mixes. The service was excellent and the staff were Four Seasons caliber. I stayed in the 2 room suite on the third floor. Again, I was so impressed with the restoration. In the suite I stayed in, the installed high end Pella windows. I don’t know whether they just got lucky with sizing or whether they somehow got Pella to build a custom window but they are seamlessly integrated with the original window framing sills and moulding. The floors are original. They were stripped down and left a natural color as opposed to being stained which although might not be period makes the room incredibly light filled. Beds and bedding were again, Four Seasons/Ritz Carlton quality. As a coffee person, I was a little concerned about the use of Keurigs as I find them to be less robust than Nespresso as the heating elements wear down realtively quickly and the brew suffers. However, the Keurig in my room was new and the Wilbur provides a really delicious craft organic coffee-it all worked great! In addition to happy hour, my family and I ate at the Swift, the Wilbur’s restaurant. Everything was first class! The potato soup was amazing. I had the lamb-perfect, tender and cooked medium rare. My wife had the scallops- again NYC high end quality. My daughter has short ribs- again everything was perfect. There was also another really special treat the Wilbur afforded us. Our family enjoys aviary wild life. This property has a chimney that has for generations apparently been the overnight resting place for swifts, a bird that we do not see much of despite living only 100 miles away. Typically, before setting up for the night, the swifts congregate and then all at once fly for the chimney for the night. As I sipped my cocktail I was fortunate enough to catch a them just as they were congregating in some bordering trees. I have attached a picture. If you look closely at the top of the trees you will see them. One of those moments.
