MainStay Suites North - Central York

I did not like that I requested a connecting room and got rooms that were not even on the same floor. Was told they were totally booked when I complained. Then they agreed to give me a room with a king bed on the same floor. So I had to share a bed with my grown daughter. Not cool. Also asked if there was a restaurant and a bar at the hotel and was assured there was but when we got there, there was NONE. Breakfast was rolled up at 10:30 on a Sunday. Never made it. I will be making sure about accommodations in the future.

The hotel was nice and clean, but it was next to a sewage treatment plant and the smell around the hotel is absolutely terrible.

Upon check in we had to ask someone to clean the headboard. There was something nasty on it. Then my husband went to the bathroom to find a dirty washcloth hanging in the shower. Then he sat in the office chair and almost ended up on the floor because it was broken. The refrigerator made an ungodly noise what seemed like every hour on the hour all night. Told the gentleman during checkout that we didnt have a good stay and he didnt even respond

Given previous good reviews, I had slightly higher expectations of the property. First it took 45 minutes to check in. There were a few families first but the issue was that the staff was on her own and possibly the only one on the property. She was providing towels, answering calls, and even excused herself at one point for a few minutes and I saw her going down the hall with a cleaning bottle. She did manage to remain kind during check in. The room appeared ok and was spacious. The kitchenette had a few issues - wobbly faucet and it seemed the ice maker wasn’t hooked up. There was no ice to be found in the building by the way. The room was generally clean but there was a disregard for some things - sticky spots on carpet that were visible, bathroom floor was washed but not adequately rinsed with clean water so it felt tacky. Overall, I suspect they’re severely understaffed causing oversights. Unfortunately those things will add up quickly! We stay in the area often but will think twice about returning. Breakfast was decent and the seating area spacious.

After driving 8 hours we arrived at this hotel around 2:30 in the morning. The first room we got had a massive centipede on the wall, so we went back to front desk. The agent said he could give us another room but a suite with a pull out couch. Everything looked ok, but the couch had crumbs of food on it and once you took the cushions off, even more crumbs and some loose change. You could tell it hadn’t been vacuumed in a while. There was no bedding available anywhere in the suite to make a bed. We tried to call the reception and the phone wasn’t working. We then went back downstairs and the attendant tried to do what he could and gave us a second room. This is where our third guest stayed. The suite however as we continued to explore, didn’t have one functioning television. There were two TVs in the room. All windows ledges had small dead bugs in the corners that could easily be vacuumed up with a little effort. For the price of $200/night this hotel is horrible. The only thing going for them is comfortable beds. We never tried the breakfast because by the time all the room issues were settled it was 4:00am,so we ended up sleeping through the 6-9 breakfast. That should run until 10 really, although I’m. It sure given the state of the rooms, if I would want to eat anything prepared in there.

This was perfectly acceptable for a one night trip. Nothing terribly special. Parts of the carpet felt “sticky”. We rented to room to go to a wedding in the area, and got ready in the room. Unfortunately there wasn’t a full length mirror in the room. Full kitchen was nice.
