Thantara Resort Chiang Mai

Pros: 1. Bikes to cruise around 2. Large property with great mountain views 3. Beautiful rice fields around 4. Lovely villa

Cons: 1. Despite there not being many restaurant guests, lunch and dinner took a good 1-2 hours, it was ridiculous, orders were taken incorrectly, items not served 2. Somebody stole the family bike from our villa, bashed the basket and dumped it somewhere else on the resort grounds 3. Their staff had neglected a cat and locked it up in a cage at the back of the property, first day I said that I’ll see if it’s maybe an overnight precaution, next day I found the cat dead in its cage 4. There are 6+ dogs on the property locked away in the back, they’re scared when you approach and bite each other, the concrete cages they live on provide no comfort and are full of dog poop 5. Kids are not allowed to feed the chickens, everything is on a paid basis 6. You’re not allowed to take the bikes out to cruise in the neighbourhood 7. Their rental cost for their go-cart and sidecar motorbike are absurd

It was a very relaxing experience comparing to downtown Chiang Mai. Thantara Resort was a perfect vacation for our family to get away from urban stress.

There was a party in the village near by one night and the music was very loud until midnight. Not the resort’s fault… but we couldn’t sleep that night

we LOVED our stay. This was an incredible 5 star stay and it boggles my mind how affordable it was. The staff were simply the best we've ever experienced from all the resorts we've ever stayed at. They were so friendly, so accomodating and don't even get me started on the rooms and property. Simply breathtaking. Photos and this review don't do it justice. It is a sight to behold just on its own. Acres and acres of beautiful property, so many activities, bikes and amenities galore. We didnt even leave the resort one day because of how much there is to do. I was so sad to leave because it simply was one of the best experiences of my life.
