Location was excellent.

1.The biggest pain point was parking. The Booking.com should be updated real time basis on the site. We were informed about unavailability of parking post booking. We booked this property because of parking only. 2. Kitchen amenities were not adequately clean. Specially, Electric Kettle should be replaced immediately. Would recommend replacement of all utensils. 3. The bigger room was not well lit, given long roof height. 4. Overall the property and rooms are really nice and give ancient look but they require thorough maintenance and some more cleanliness. For e.g. the mirror in the big room needs to be cleaned. 5. The washroom needs air fresheners. There was continuous foul smell of dampness. Put some hooks also for hanging clothes in the washroom

Charming and cosy room in a historic house with very helpful and welcoming staff: the bed was comfy, the shower good and it's nice to stay somewhere that doesn't look like everywhere else. The fruit and kettle/coffee maker in the room are a nice touch. Because we left on a Sunday, late checkout was 'when your train leaves' (up to 8pm!) We plan to come back.

The stairs are on the steep side but there's a small lift if you have luggage; really, it's what you'd expect from an older building like this.

The room had multiple serious issues at the same time: torn bed sheets, an intermittently malfunctioning toilet which was running and making a lot of noise, excessive intermittent noise from the fridge, additional disturbance from the heater (water dropping), not enough towels for use and significant noise during from the train which is right next to it. On top of that there was a person snoring next to my room and I could hear him as if he were right beside me, no soundproof at all. I barely slept and the little sleep I got was only due to exhaustion, with repeated brief awakenings and fragmented sleep throughout the night, which is widely recognized as a form of severe sleep deprivation and torture. I wish this to no one. I reported everything promptly through Booking, but Marc responded 11 hours later from my first message and provided no effective solution, no room change and no meaningful alternative. He only offered to deal with the torn sheets in the morning, but I was at work and had already made clear that I did not want anyone entering the room while I was absent. He conveniently misrepresented this as if I had refused access altogether and said checks would only be done after my departure, which was useless. He also tried to justify the situation by saying the building is historic, which obviously does not mean guests should expect not to sleep. Please note that most of the important messages I exchanged with him, especially those asking him to do something about the situation, were answered only after at least 8 hours. It felt as though he was avoiding responding in order to stretch out the time until I would leave. And yes, I eventually left the place because staying there with so many things malfunctioning in the room, especially while being sleep deprived and basically received that type of torture from the surroundings. Overall, this was not merely uncomfortable. It was a complete failure to provide even the most basic standard of accommodation.

Fantastic stay in a beautiful, grand residence. 10/10
