Host & Stay - Doray House

We were staying in the village for a wedding at Newton Hall. It was perfect for our family of 6 with elderly Grandparents, although the 2 steps up to the front door were a challenge if you have mobility issues. Having 2 areas to relax - the lounge and the conservatory - were fantastic, allowing everyone to have their own space. Kitchen was great & plenty of dining space. Not a huge fridge, but we coped! Ideal for dog walking but you have to take your dog out onto the grass on lead for their ablutions. Only 5 mins walk from Newton Hall so ideal for the wedding day & plenty of space - and mirrors - for us all to get ready for the big day. The Joiner's Arms pub is too close, if anything, and I'd highly recommend walking down the The Ship at Low Newton. Also enjoyed sitting outside the Jolly Fisherman at Craster & great cafe & kids play area in the walled garden at the top of the village at Bamburgh. All in all it was a fantastic place, home from home.

Very clean and spacious

Only one tea towel, shortage of toilet roll, 2 for 6 people over 3 days & flag stones on driveway were damaged causing a trip hazard. We didn’t use driveway but someone had obviously driven in at some point and the flag stones used were not up to taking the weight of a car.

Open plan, loads of space. Perfect for the dogs. Utility room with extra fridge and space to dry the dogs off was perfect

It was not easy to find the lock box on a dark and rainy night as you could not access the property from the gate where the car parking space was.

There were no Xmas decorations at all or any decent welcome pack given the price that was paid. The kitchen was not well appointed and the oven so dirty it was unusable. The oven baking trays were rusty. There was a mountain of glasses but out into cupboards in no particular order. 4 dining chairs when the house slept 6……….

This is a very lovely property plenty of room. Nicely and qualitatively furnished throughout. Pretty village location with pub serving good food opposite. The beach is a half mile walk across the fields with spectacular coastline views to Dunstanborough castle and a NT nature reserve.

It seems a shame to be negative about this property and this is probably down to the managing agents. But we reported a blocked bathroom sink when we arrived and it was still blocked when we left. Left us all using the same bathroom downstairs to get ready in a morning. No apology no recompense

The two reception rooms and the bootroom make it a good house for families and muddy boots and dogs. 😃. Beds comfy. Nice decor and great location.

The kettle lid was broken and it was a real pain to open; steam came through the screw holes when it boiled which was dangerous. There was just one dirty tea towel that really could not be used. There was no towel in the kitchen. Could do with some larger pots for cooking - we had to buy some to cook evening meals.

Great space and well equipped for the family and good location for beach walks, castles and Alnwick etc. Local pub just across road.

Nothing. Only slight issue was it is not entirely clear where to park second car as track at side also used by properties behind.
