Ruhr-Hotel Birschel Mühle

It's quite disappointing to travel many kilometres during the day and arrive at the hotel to find the door closed when the website says that reception is open (there is a time slot indicated). When you arrive, there are two entrances: one for the restaurant and one, in another building, for the rooms. When you go into the building for the rooms, it is only written in German that you have to go to the other building. What do you do if you can't read German? There should be an English translation. When you go to the restaurant building, it is only marked in German that you have to call a mobile phone number (nothing is written in English, so you have to guess). The number provided can be accessed from mobile phones with a German line: you still have to guess how to do it when using a mobile phone from your own country: do you have to dial the international code (00)? Do you just have to dial (49)? Once the call is connected, you only speak to one person on the other end of the line who explains the different steps you need to take to enter. So it's poorly explained for foreigners and impersonal. The hotel boasts on its website that it has a beautiful waterfront location in an unusual setting: as the terrace was closed (the restaurant was closed), we couldn't enjoy it. Instead, we had windows in the rooms that were quite high up and looked out onto the walls of the building opposite. There was absolutely nothing unusual or beautiful about it.

Vor 15 Uhr war kein einchecken möglich. Personal ist nicht vorhanden, man muss mit einem code die Haustür öffnen.und mit einem code das Zimmer.vorher müssen die Ausweise fotografiert werden, um Einzelheiten. Kein Personal das Probleme löst. Wir haben ein anderes Hotel gewählt und bleiben auf den Kosten sitzen.

Die Lage des Hotels direkt an der Ruhr ist sehr schön. Das Zimmer stellte sich vor Ort als eine kleine Wohnung dar. Wir hatten sehr viel Platz.

Die negativen Dinge überwiegen. Das Frühstück für 17,00 € ist unverschämt. Das war nicht mal 5 € wert. Die ganze Zeit während unseres Aufenthaltes ging der Fernseher nicht. Leider war auch niemand in der Lage, daran etwas zu ändern. Die Fenster im Frühstücksraum waren derart verschmutzt, dass die Sicht auf die Ruhr erheblich eingeschränkt war.

Im Flur der 3. Etage roch sehr unangenehm. Das Fernsehen hatte nur wenige Sender, die öffentlich rechtlichen Programme fehlten.

Frühstück, geräumiges Bad, Zimmergrösse, Sauberkeit

Etwas abgewohnt und spartanisch, aber ausreichend zur einfachen Übernachtung. Preisniveau ist dementsprechend abgesenkt, so dass das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt. In Hotelnähe kaum Verpflegungsmöglichkeiten in Fussnähe. Das Hotel selbst ist bzgl Verpflegung abends geschlossen. Personal nur sehr spärlich vorhanden, das Hotel wirkt unbewohnt und verlassen. Im Nebenzimmer fand um 2-3h eine geräuschvolle „Zeremonie“ statt, die man nicht unbedingt hören möchte … aber dafür kann das Hotel nichts. Es hat trotzdem die Nacht zum Tag gemacht…

Sehr gutes Frühstück. Gute Lage.
