The Wine Lodges by An Island Apart

Easy transfer from/to airport booked via the property. Location excellent - city centre, next to a park and 80 yards from a square with activities [flower festival] and music. Nearby restaurants. Much more interesting to us than the tower block hotel area.. Apt roomy, well furnished, well equipped, good atmosphere, very much much better than many. The apartment, dating fron early C19, had character - not an identikit rabbit hutch! Table wine and bottle of Madeira waiting for us. We would go there again,

Poor communication before arrival; conflicting info regarding entry codes, no reply to request for location of entry keypads, no info re where to leave luggage if arriving early. No manuals for washing machine, TV, etc Lighting could be better - good low level lights but short of sockets or extension lead in lounge to put them where needed

Skvělá lokalita s výhledem na krásný voňavý park, prakticky v centru, Vybavenost perfektní. Připadali jsme si jako na zámku, interiér je prostorný a vypadá opravdu luxusně. Welcome drinky byly vynikající kvality. Check-in měl být self-ch-i, přilétali jsme pozdě, ale mail s odkazem zřejmě nepřišel nebo spadl do spamu, navzdory tomu nám v půl jedenácté v noci zvedli telefon a kód nadiktovali, takže se vše rychle vyřešilo. Rozhodně doporučujeme.

Jelikož bylo poměrně teplo, větrali jsme a trápili nás komáři. Možná nějaký odpuzovač do zásuvky by se hodil - pokud tam byl, nenašli jsme. Klimatizace byla jen v ložnici, ale byli jsme 4, a v obýváku nebyla. Vrzající podlahu jsme očekávali podle předchozích hodnocení, opravdu byla hlasitá, ale dalo ze na to zvyknout. Nic co by narušilo pohodu pobytu.

Excellent location directly across from beautiful park. Loved the Apartment.

A change of towels would have been appreciated, also some basic condiments eg cooking oil for basic cooking option 4 guests.

Sehr schöne Wohnung, hübsch eingerichtet. Zentral gelegen, aber doch ruhig. Perfekt für einen City Trip.

Die Parkplatzsituation; unmittelbar angrenzendes Parkhaus, aber für mehrtägige Aufenthalte „sauteuer“ - eine zweite, separate Toilette wäre perfekt

Brilliant location right in the centre of Funchal in the old Blandy's Wine Lodge and municipal gardens opposite the front door with a lovely cafe in it. Really beautiful large apartment (Verdelho) with 2 bedrooms both with double beds. 2 bathrooms a large lounge with a smart TV and a kitchen with a dishwasher and a washing machine. The apartment also has a small balcony overlooking Funchal which is great. The apartment is on the 3rd floor and it also has 3 floors within it, we were very much fitter by the end of our stay !!

Although the staff responded promptly to a few enquiries they were not very helpful and a couple of things reported (eg coffee maker) brocken were not fixed or replaced. Also the showers are prone to flood the bathrooms as the water runs off the shower tray rather than down the plug whole. The bed was too hard for us but that is really personal choice, I would definitely have liked a mattress topper.
