The Wine Lodges by An Island Apart

Location was excellent right in centre of Funchal. Everything you needed as a home from home, beds were very comfortable. Lovely that you left us some wine as a welcome gift thank you.

Some of the curtains were not all secured to the hooks on the rails, heater in lounge was very noisy, the one in garden facing bedroom didn't work at all but there was a radiator provided instead. Chair on balcony had a hole in it and only enough for 3 people when there were 4 of us. Just little attentions to details really.

A place with soul...Perfect climate of Funchal.For People who dont know that older>better i do not recommend.If you prefer sunny aparts like a small flat on polish-warsaw suburbs, that s not the place for you.If want to fully connect with FNC thats definitely your place.Full reccomendation to all urban people.We ll be back for sure.

Huge apartment in a fantastic location.

Not a big problem for us but the apartment was up three flights of stairs. Although beautiful dark polished wood, the steps were a little difficult to see

Central in Funchal, beautiful but worn apartment.

We have stayed in this apartment three years ago and was looking forward to go back. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to our expectations. Some examples: - the parking card and voucher for the museum wasn’t available as described - lamps at the terasse and in the bed room was out of order - there wasn’t enough coffee mugs for the family - there were no toilet paper or soap in one of the bathrooms - furniture is worn, sofa outside is broken The staff corresponded quickly but the maintenance of this apartment has clearly not been kept up and today it isn’t worth the money anymore

Location next to the park. Owner was willing to co-opetate due to our concerns.

We could not stay at the apartment because of the lack of smoke detectors, which were supposed to exist (according to the description). Smoke detectors are a basic safety feature, and we won’t compromise on our safety. Also, the apartment needs maintenance. Air smelled strongly humid, and there was no air ventilation, opening the windows did not help. The floor is old and very loud, and needs replacing, the wood is partially rotten and we saw small bugs living in there. The property couls become great if these aspects were taken care of.

It was beautiful and so spacious. The outside deck was small but nice with a view. Had laundry and everything you needed in the kitchen including an espresso machine.

It was on the 3rd floor with lots of steps. The rooms were labeled with the name of wine but we never were told that just room 3. The shower was broken but they replaced it quickly. In the living room there was door stop that needs to be moved. My husband nearly broke his toe on it.
