Independence Inn

We had a lovely stay. The inn is charming & we will be back! Tyler was very responsive when needed & made our stay so enjoyable. The beds are soft and cozy & the fireplace adds a special touch on those cold nights. Very close to a mom & pop market that has delicious sandwiches & pizza etc.. beer & wine as well!

Tyler & his wife Sara were so inviting. This is an old Inn with all the charms. Tyler’s wife made me a lovely welcome sign, a very personal touch. Felt very comfortable being here. Very close to a family owned market that sold lovely local items as well as home cooked food for takeout. Beer & wine available as well.

Very cozy! Well organized and thoughtful! Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family!

I have stayed here 3 times and I am very happy with the simple yet important considerations made for guests. I am hopeful to visit again regularly

Loved everything, especially the solitude, loved to go back

It looked very charming online, and we booked a weekend stay for a wedding we were attending in the area. At no time were we told that the inn was self check-in, either on the website when we booked our room or in the confirmation email. We were okay when we arrived to discover that, and were able to retrieve our key and get into our room. However, it was very odd that there seemed to be nobody around the property most of the time we were there. We also found the bed in our room (#3) very soft and uncomfortable and the shower barely big enough for one person. The evening we arrived we followed the instructions in our room to text the innkeeper with any issues. We texted that the filtered water container was empty (as other reviews have noted, the tap water is undrinkable) and about another issue in our room. We received no response, and the next morning we texted again when we noted the water hadn't been refilled. When we returned to the inn in the afternoon, we still had not received a response and the water was still unfilled. We also found it a little odd that the place seemed relatively empty and yet the outside door was unlocked (at least as late as about 9:00p, when we returned to the inn). We understand this is a relatively safe rural area, but nonetheless, it was a little disconcerting going to bed knowing the outside door is unlocked. My wife said that if she had been traveling alone, she would not have felt safe staying there. Also, when we went down to the breakfast area to eat our breakfast, we found that all of the tables were dirty (they had apparently not been wiped down), even though it looked like there were few if any other guests staying at the inn. We found the whole experience so strange and uncomfortable that we ended up leaving after just one night, even though we had prepaid for two nights.

we checked in around 9 pm and was dark out. no staff at the location . felt little spooky at the beginning, called the Inn Keeper and she explained about the building. It was a old building but it was clean . had a small kitchenette which was very convenient for us. they had every thing you need for a Breakfast. i had not issues for a one night stay. beautiful lake near this stay.

Amazing place to relax.

Charming inn with an easy check in/out procedure. My room had a tilt to it from an uneven foundation so the bed alignment was a little difficult to get used to. Overall I liked the ambiance and antique decor. Breakfast was a little lacking.
