McCauley's Havilland Bay

My wife and I stayed one night at McCauleys. We liked the location 25 miles north of the Canadian Soo. The small refrigerator in our room was very nice as it not only kept our cooler foods overnight, but the attached freezer allowed us to re-freeze our cold packs as well. What we did not like was that the bathroom had no electric outlet for a hair dryer, nor did the bathroom have an exhaust fan. My wife did not have good hot water for her shower and ended up with only cold water to wash her hair. Not a good way to start the day !

Dated room. Cars parked up near the open windows. Tiny sink. No work table.

Stay was pleasant but facilities are old and outdated. No air conditioning and bathroom very small and in need of update for fixtures. New owners so I expect improvements coming. Owners operate motel and restaurant and food and conversation was fantastic.

Room was clean and spacious. Small bathroom. Nothing much around but Pancake Bay fairly close for beautiful beach and nature hiking trail.

It is so easy to get to off the highway and is walking distance to a few beaches. People are friendly, the room was beautiful and we just felt comfortable as soon as we got there. We got a text pre-arrival with our room number and the where the key was going to be. Had we arrived super late (like we had at other locations this trip) we wouldn't have had to worry about the front desk being closed.

A good location for a night to stay and eat.

This was an incredible experiene. The room was extremely clean. It was well laid out. Chris and his family were most gracious and helpful. Despite being full there was no sound transmission. The white fish in the restaurant is to die for. Ill figure out a way to make it back here.

Hospitable, clean, great decor, bathroom a bit tired.

Great spot. Walk over to the beach on the lake and watch the sunset. Short drive to Lake Superior Park. Friendly owners. Restaurant on site. Renovations to rooms. Very comfortable.

Outstanding stay. A small desk and an extra chair would have been a nice touch
