Lakes Lodge Okataina

The lake views are astonishing. The reception put us on the best room with the best view ever. The bed was comfortable. The room had a really small kitchen set but just what we needed. The facilities are old but everything functions very well and it’s an historical building that makes you sort of travel back in time. The room was clean and the garden well taken care of.

Although we knew about the property not having a breakfast or a restaurant, the place is meant to have one. In my opinion, the place is ideal for having a restaurant or simply a coffee shop. It’s a nice spot to spend the day, admiring the lake, and this kind of business could even create a motive for people to come just to spend the afternoon with a coffee admiring the views or kayaking with their families.

Loved our stay here. Location was amazing and the room was all we needed. We made the most of swimming in the lake and finding the glow worms. Will definitely stay here again.

- All the accomodation is wooden cabins, given it is beside a lake and misty at times things do have a damp smell to them - Water pressure in the shower is pretty low - Can’t keep the windows open due to the bugs, which is annoying when you’re trying to get some fresh air into the cabin
