Beautiful old historical inn

There is much to commend, mostly room comfortable, bed and pillows very much so. Little doubt adapting a 200 year old building to modern day comforts is a challenge. This location to the old down by the tracks historical center is good, despite being on a major road, is quiet after dark. Location to tour Antietam Battlefield is convenient. Breakfast is adequate, no more.

Staying in room 4, the dramatically squeaky door. I gave it the farmer treatment and used cooking oil to lubricate it, given there are no staff on-site. The bathroom is a bit nippy. What's with the dim lights. Don't guests read anymore? We do. Needed our flashlights. With today's LED bulbs there's no savings surely? TV

The check-in process was great, the lobby area spacious with comfortable seating spaces. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. We definitely appreciated the beautiful old wood floors, various antiques and preservation of historic details. The location is less than a mile from the historic Harper's Ferry.

The bed was comfortable but very firm. It could do with a topper that softened it a bit. We were disappointed to have to miss breakfast (9 a.m. seems a little late to me) but the chef had "breakfast grab and go" bags made up with yogurt, fruit, a muffin, apple juice and two hard-boiled eggs that we picked up along with coffee as we left at 8 a.m. Very nice and appreciated.

I like the location because it was a nice mile walk to get to the main part of town. I enjoyed all the things to see and do along the way.

A couple of things needed maintenance. The light didn’t work in the half bath and the kitchen sink faucet needed to be replaced or reinstalled.

Lovely historic home in an excellent location with spacious rooms, friendly staff and a wonderful homemade breakfast each morning! (Thank you Megan and Mia)
