Quite a unique experience with traditional Japanese furniture and room layout. The owner clearly put a lot of thoughts in building out this hotel by integrating modern appliances into traditional Japanese house architecture. Beautifully decorated garden. Staff were super helpful.

Old house means no blinds so be ready to weak up at 5 am If you go for the limited cleaning option it means no cleaning (no bed making) just as a FYI, for futons you’ll have to set them up yourself (which is fine) Location is 10-15’ from bus and metro so quiet but requires more walking

I thought the environment and the staff were very friendly and cozy. It’s a short walk from any convenience store and Nishiki market is about a 15 to 20 minute walk. The onsen is definitely a plus after a long day of walking.

Large, spacious, authentic Japanese kyomachiya. Light breakfast included was an excellent start to the day. Good location near to Nijo castle and the Kyoto Imperial Gardens. Staff was extremely helpful and spoke fluent English.

No easy way of indicating we did not want to be bothered by cleaning staff - had to let them know the prior. Cleaning schedule unpredictable (10am to 5pm) means this impacted our feeling of privacy when resting during the day - always felt like someone might come in at any moment. Would be much better if there was some sign we could have hung outside the door.
