Hotel Canobolas

My room was spacious. Central location was handy.

The hum of the building machinery outside (aircon?) was a tad distracting at times but didn't keep me awake.

Room was dark, small (tight) with hardly room to place luggage for 2 persons. Evening meal 'special' was very 'ordinary' - Rump steak on cold plate was not delivered until 55 minutes after order. Obvious delay between completion of cooking and delivery to table. Japanese colleague was so upset he returned meal after taking only two bites.

A mixup in room assignments was very competently handled the next day.

Bed was comfy. Hot water was very good. Complimentary water was good. Quilt was warm enough. Good there was an iron & ironing board. Location was great but quite noisy at night, noise coming from downstairs and loud music. Good hair dryer. Loved the white sheets and quilt cover - sign of cleanliness.

TV was not working - very frustrating! Only enough shower gel & shampoo for ONE person, although there were 2. Only ONE person got a hand towel. Didn't like the darkness of black paint, black carpet and very dim lighting. Sign that things may NOT be very clean. Only one chair, because of small room. Wasn't happy that the attendant did NOT warn us that there would be an extra surcharge for using an Amex card & was not able to change it although we changed the payment to a VISA card. Also we were charged $10 more for our room than friends who had a similar room on the same floor. Limited staff who could help & front desk was barely manned. An aged building.
