Very clean, and tasteful!

Love the food, but way too expensive!

We arrived late, around 10:00 PM, expecting a straightforward check-in after a long day of travel. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but that. We booked 2 small rooms. We both like our space and it's usually cheaper to book 2 small ones than a bigger suite. The hotel itself was fine, very clean but upon checking in there was a sound coming from somewhere, like a party was going on. One of the front desk guys came to the room, and he heard it too. He offered up another room but I heard it there too, just a little less. He didn't hear it in the second room but by that time I was done. I needed to sleep so I slept in my car. The following day, we spoke with the daytime manager. While the first night’s charge was eventually removed, it felt reluctant rather than customer-focused. He was looking for a way to refuse to remove the charge for the night that I slept in my car. Everyone else was helpful. The valet service was way worse! When we arrived, the area to hand off the keys was completely unattended. No staff outside, despite being just steps from the entrance. I went inside to the front desk, where only one other guest was checking in. I stood there for several minutes with no acknowledgment. During that time, I noticed a young man standing to the side of the front desk on his phone, not assisting anyone. After waiting, I asked the front desk guy where to go to get valet help. They pointed toward the gentleman who was on his phone, suggesting that we could try to get assistance ourselves. When approached, his response escalated immediately and unexpectedly. After I expressed frustration about not being able to get my car parked, he became visibly agitated, began yelling loudly, and made aggressive gestures. The situation felt unsafe. I was not comfortable giving him my vehicle and was concerned about further escalation. I returned inside and informed the front desk folks. The night manager did step in and allowed my husband to park directly in front, which we appreciated, but by that point the experience had already crossed a line. The gentleman who supervised the valet services apologetically chatted with me the following morning but the damage had been done. We later learned that the valet service is operated by a third party, but from a guest perspective, that distinction doesn’t matter. This incident happened on the property and reflects directly on the hotel’s operations and oversight. This was not just an inconvenience; it was a situation that felt unsafe and poorly handled from start to finish.

I stayed here four days for a conference, and here are my observations (in no coherent order): 1. The hotel and grounds are simply beautiful. 2. As one other person noted, the room does not have a coffee maker. The lobby, however, has excellent coffee with real cream or oat milk. The coffee is ready by 6am. You can also fill your water bottle in the lobby. 3. The gym is excellent. It has multiple machines, weights, and three Peletons. Three! 4. The wifi is excellent. 5. You have to valet. It works through an app. It worked fine, except that 125 people leaving a conference simultaneously caused a real backup. 6. The small bar is good. I had an excellent burger and a good IPA. Does a man need more? 7. The conference facilities are great, and our food was top notch. 8. The free-standing blue tooth speaker in the room is a nice feature. 9. Please understand that this hotel is near the north grounds, giving you quick access to the law school, the business school, the baseball and softball fields, the field for lacrosse and soccer, and to JPJ. The central grounds where the rotunda, the lawn, and the corner are located are about a 20–25-minute walk.
