Residence Inn by Marriott St Louis Clayton

My son and I stayed here while touring Wash U. The room was huge, and very clean. The staff is very friendly. There is a bit of noise from the street and from the hallway, but not bad. The air-conditioning worked well. The bed was too soft for our tastes. I liked that the hotel supplied conditioner in the shower. Parking in the garage next door is convenient, although costs $20/day. I would stay here again. But I do think that Marriott Gold Bonvoy members should be offered free water instead of having to buy it from the market, as well as offered other perks. (I didn't need a late check-out, but this is an example of something that should be offered to members so we feel our membership is giving us something other than a thank you for being a member.)

The stay was very comfortable. The guest services staff was very friendly and made sure everything was up to par and standards.

Loved the tall ceilings. Felt like we were staying in a loft. Don't know that I've ever stayed in a hotel room with ceilings that tall. The facility was super clean. The breakfast was great! We really enjoyed our stay.

The staff here is exceptional… very accommodating super friendly and they Love dogs we brought 2 we live in STL during some remodeling we had the pleasure of staying here very well located walking distance to many good restaurants rooms and hotel clean and neat

Location.

Room was stinky from off gassing.(Carpet? Mattress? Who knows.) Blackout curtain already broken and wouldn't close properly. Towel on rack with obvious stain before use. Too many feather pillows and only one synthetic pillow. Only 2 packages of coffee with caffeine. Parking too far from hotel, so overworked valet frequently missing. Not comfortable. Won't be back.

The check-in experience was extremely unsatisfactory. We arrived shortly after midnight to find the overnight clerk gambling on his phone. He was rude and dismissive throughout the process. Despite having prepaid over two weeks ago through a third-party service, the clerk demanded that I insert my card without providing any explanation for the charges. When I inquired about the amount, he reacted with frustration and claimed he had to restart the process multiple times, which was not my fault. His unprofessional behavior continued as he insisted a full night's payment was due at check-in, even though I had already paid online. He refused to review the receipt and became increasingly agitated when I questioned his rudeness. It was only after he put his phone down and properly checked his screen that he acknowledged our prior payment. This made for a terrible check-in experience. However, the morning staff was exceptionally kind and professional, offering a stark contrast to the overnight clerk. Additionally, the breakfast was delicious.

Convenient but the room we had did not have a good view: parking garage.
