Smiling Places lives fully up to its name. Elisabete and Fernando are the kindest, most caring hosts. They made me feel so welcome and at home. The place is beautiful. My room was so beautifully furnished, the bathroom modern, the common areas are so nice as well. The bed was comfortable and everything perfectly clean. You get drinking water for free, the breakfast is great. I enjoyed sharing stories with my hosts, dangling my legs in the pool after a long walk on the Caminho (thanks for the advice, Elisabete), feeling at home and taken care of. If you stay here, you will also leave with a smile. Thank you so much!

We travel a fair bit, and Smiling Places is the best place we have ever stayed. We arrived hot and tired and as we took off our packs Fernando offered us a selection of cold drinks and Elizabet encouraged us to relax with our tired feet in the swimming pool. It was so welcoming and refreshing. The rest of our stay was filled with lovely moments of being cared for. The breakfast is tailored to each guest and far exceeded anything we could have imagined - fresh and delicious. We had so much left over we were given a bag to prepare a take-away lunch for later. We had a beautifully decorated and comfortable suite with 2 balconies ( which we used a lot) and so many thoughtful things like drinks and snacks and even laundry soap in the suite (a treat for Camino pilgrims) even though they also have laundry facilities on site. Our suite was very quiet and very private. Smiling Places is like coming home. It’s where you are cared for body and soul. We will never forget Fernando and Elizabet and their many kindnesses to us.
