Grimaldi 8 Apartment by Wonderful Italy

It is not in my nature to leave bad reviews—when on vacation, I always try to focus on the positive aspects. However, in the case of renting an apartment in Catania, I decided to make an exception. I would like to note that at the time of booking, the apartment had a rating of 8.4 on Booking, but on the night before check-in, it dropped to 7.8. Unfortunately, by then, it was too late to change anything. First of all, I must say that the city itself is very dirty, which likely affects the quality of services provided. Points to mention: 1. We were kindly offered early check-in (at 11:00), but the host’s representative was 30 minutes late, and we had to wait outside in the rain. 2. The apartment had not been heated for a long time, so we had to use the air conditioners for almost a full day to warm it up, as the ceilings were very high. Taking a warm shower was also impossible since the boiler was too small, providing enough hot water for only one person. Hygiene and cleanliness: • The representative who showed us the apartment did not remove his shoes, despite the rainy weather. As a result, the floors got dirty, and the bathroom mat he stepped on lost any sense of cleanliness. We simply put it aside. • The washing machine was in poor condition: rust was eating away at it, and the paint was peeling. • There was no trash bin in the bathroom. • The wall near the headboard was dirty. • The bed linen was clean, but there was no duvet cover. This made us question whether the duvet itself had been washed at all, so we used an extra sheet instead. • Some towels smelled musty or moldy. Kitchen: • There were no clean or new sponges for washing dishes, so we had to buy our own. • The roll of paper towels had already been used. • There were no extra trash bags (only one in the bin), which was clearly not enough for a four-day stay, especially when using the kitchen. Additional inconveniences: • Disposable slippers were not provided.

Great location, near to the city centre but enough far from the noisy bars. Near to the bus station. Tupycal Italian house with high painted ceilings, chandelier, and a lot of interesting details. Just in few step you have a park, bars, restaurants,small stores. For the people who like to live in the Italian movie for few days, and to have a romentic and unforgettable vacation in Sicily, or pricese in Catania

I don't have any complaints. Everything eas superb.

The taste of Italy

1. We barely arrived and the host made us sign a contract related to the health of their furniture and objects inside of the location. I asked for a copy, didn't receive it. 2. They sent us rules related to the garbage and even a scenario about us not respecting it, threatening us with a 50 Euro fine if we don't respect it. 3. The noise outside couldn't be isolated by the windows, so we could barely sleep. 4. The hot water can be used only for 20-25 minutes, after that we needed to bathe our 1 year old baby using heated water inside of the sink. 5. The garbage outside and the very dirty area around the block. 6. This apartment isn't suited for 4 people, basically 2 people sleep in the kitchen on a non-comfy couch.
