Unsafe Stay – Bed Bugs and No Response from property Our stay was a nightmare. After being bitten and scratchy all day, we checked the mattresses and we found bed bugs in multiple beds, causing health risks and stress for the whole group. Few members suffered severe bites, and we had to spend days taking precautions to avoid bringing them home (including visits to the pharmacy to get creams and anti-allergy medications, and plans cancellation). The host’s “solution” was to split us into two separate accommodations in different city areas, disrupting our plans and forcing us to accept unsuitable options. One staff member was even rude and rushed when we asked to check the new beds for safety (and provide no reassurance that they were clean and bugs free). Meanwhile our group was split for 2 nights and 3 days which ruined our vacation, with no further contact with the property/agency. Worse, the host ignored our follow-up messages, never checked on our wellbeing, and offered no compensation and NO ANSWER AT ALL after being moved around. A broken bathroom sink also went unrepaired for half our stay, leaving eight people to share one sink. This was unprofessional, unsafe, and unacceptable. Until the property takes responsibility, avoid booking here. Host not to be trusted as we do not know if the original property and the rest of the accommodations we had to stay at have been cleaned and disinfected.

La pulizia della struttura. Un appartamento di una tale importanza deve avere la pulizia che merita. Dita di polvere sopra le testate del letto, formiche in bagno e la cosa peggiore in assoluto è stata la sorpresa di avere le CIMICI DA LETTO nel letto. Dopo la prima notte le mie amiche di sono svegliate piene di morsicature. Dopo aver segnalato il problema allo staff, ci è stato detto che erano dispiaciuti ma che purtroppo, non avremmo potuto cambiare appartamento perché gli altri non sarebbero stati disponibili e inoltre, avrebbero valutato un rimborso. Morale della favola? Dopo diverse chiamate e messaggi (da qui si evince che l’assistenza al cliente è pressoché inesistente) non c’è traccia di rimborso e non rispondono neanche più ai messaggi. Purtroppo quel bellissimo appartamento è finito nelle mani della gestione sbagliata.

Ik heb nog nooit zo'n vreselijke reiservaring gehad. De bedbugs krioelde over het bed, bedframe, kussens en dekens. Ze zaten niet alleen in het matras, maar het waren er zo veel dat ze ook over de dekens en kussens kropen en langs het bedframe en overal zaten oude bloedvlekken. Het is niet mogelijk dat de hosts/schoonmakers dit niet hebben gezien tijdens het opmaken van de bedden. Of de bedden zijn in geen maanden opgemaakt, wat nog erger is. Er zaten namelijk ook hele grote bedbugs tussen, het leken wel kleine kakkerlakken. Helaas heeft zowel Wonderful Italy als booking.com ons niet geholpen, geen geld teruggegeven en op dit moment negeert Wonderful Italy ons nog steeds en van booking.com krijgen we ook niks meer te horen. Ik zou hier nooit meer boeken, nog nooit zulke slechte service meegemaakt. Wij hebben hier extra kosten aan overgehouden in verband met de schoonmaakkosten van onze kleding en koffers en hebben de rest van onze reis met alles in vuilniszakken moeten reizen. En alsnog krijgen wij geen geld terug, zowel niet van wonderful italy als booking.com. Booking.com geeft aan dat ze voor ons niks kunnen betekenen, wat heel raar is want wonderful italy is een partner van hen. Goed om te weten dus dat je niet terecht kan bij booking.com als je problemen met je verblijf hebt, want ze schuiven het dan gewoon op de tussenpartij, terwijl zij daar ook een samenwerking mee zijn aangegaan. We zijn de hele vakantie van het kastje naar de muur gestuurd en uiteindelijk een waardebon gekregen van net 25 procent van het betaalde bedrag (wat nog niet eens de extra gemaakt schoonmaakkosten van al onze koffers dekt en waar we uberhaupt niks aan hebben omdat we met deze service van booking.com nooit meer bij booking.com willen boeken, want als de partner je een verblijf vol met bedbugs geeft, kan booking.com blijkbaar niks voor je betekenen. Te belachelijk voor woorden!!!!

So this is a tough one. It was a charming appartment in the old town, great location. no AC, but still held cool by its architecture. Big table to fit all people for evenings. Had some recent renovations (though partly poorly done, see below)

So we had a situation with the appartment that forced us to get relocated ASAP (if you travel alot you might get why). The employees for that were nice and helpful and I am greatful for their help and I understand it is not an issue they had full control over. My bad review now is based on the communication afterwards. I have contacted the rental agency (wonderful Italy) multiple times, over different channels, in the two weeks following to resolve the issue we had with our stay. It is one of the kind where you need to take extra precautions for your travel home and might see a doctor, to give you, my reader, more hints). I was told I would hear back 'very soon', at 'end of the week', or 'next Monday', but never the moment I was finally in touch with an employee. I asked for written confirmations of my compensation request which on phone was agreed to and never came to anything. I might change the review if wonderful Italy will decide to properly respond to me, until then I will leave it as it is. Comparatively minor inconvenices but still unpleasant: the one toilet was not cleaned, and some of the apparently newly renovated bathrooms had equipments falling apart or were already broken (shower door, shower heads).
