This is a gorgeous historic place, over 200 years old, fixed up meticulously. The room had a magnificent fireplace, and tasteful antiques transporting you back in time. The host had complimentary beverages in the fridge. Located close to little shops and restaurants in the lush mountains of West Virginia, this is truly a hidden gem. I'd stay here again in a second

"Historic district unique stay-but considerable traffic noise in Suite 3"

We chose to stay there because of the separate living kitchen and dining area. Having a separate bedroom was a high priority for us. It was close to everything we wanted to see in the area. So it was an easy walk around downtown and we visited some of the shops . It’s decorated nicely and comfortable. Well stocked kitchen with plates, glasses, pots and silverware.

Downsides were that our room was on the street. And the traffic noise was pretty loud. I was shocked that so many large trucks are allowed to drive through the historic downtown area. Many historic areas in towns have ordinances. The shower leaks into the bedroom. Right after shower, we would notice water pulling up in the bedroom behind the shower. Also, there was nail head exposed about six boards from the bedroom entrance to the outside hall . Inside the bedroom on the floor. It could be very dangerous and cut someone’s foot.

"Perfect stay"

Part of our anniversary trip this year brought us to the Thomas Rose Inn. It was quiet, beautiful, and comfortable. Extra touches made it even better. Location was great. Hosts responded asap. Highly recommend this wonderful place.

Upstairs neighbor got noisy at times. Heavy footsteps on period bare floors.
